When they say 2.0i 16v it's got to be badges on surely?

I suppose it depends on personal taste.

My car is completely badge-less, and does appear somewhat plain or lacking.
But it does keep the young uns guessing as to what it is.

I like the clean-ness of badge-less compared to the shopping list titles when you have the full spec written across the boot.
A bit too cluttered for me.

I would probably leave off the 16v and SRi, as a happy medium, even though they do add a pleasant contrast.

Hmm - that will simply not do. I can't decide fully myself. Ha ha.

I suppose that factory spec would have all the badges fitted
( including the abs badge next to the near side rear light cluster) :P

De-badged doesn't look too bad but I think is better suited to more recent cars people still remember & recognize, around 8-10 years?
How many times have you seen an older car( - age relevant ) you liked the look of, outwith your age/experience range, and wondered what it was ? Not too bad for me, the cars from my 60's childhood and earlier have always been easily identifiable, thanks to de-badging not being a trend at the time.
With cars our age I think original badges on is better, it promotes interest in the car. Strangers occasionally approach me to talk about their cavalier experiences/memories, I've never heard anything but good stories

If it was me I'd leave out the additional red badges, they really stand out as add-ons, the typeface is totally wrong,( although I could live with original 16v badge painted red, just because It's an sri :love )

I know what you mean by looking cluttered, but like you said it's personal taste I'll have to try and make my mind up

Thanks for replies

I'd say stay true to the stock as the car left the factory

If you do decide to de badge then go with look that you like...

With my cars I have the option a) badge less b) Opel badges or c) Vauxhall

Just store / remove the badges safely as they're not easy available or very very expensive

According to the brochure, the red SRi badge should be on the front wings close to the side repeaters.

My Cavalier is a total hotch-potch, so I wouldn't know what I could badge it up with.

I did think about the pre-facelift SRi style sticker decals rather than plastic badges.
I do like the old stickers...

hi there the whole reason this started was both cavalier and vauxhall badge had both lost their chrome lettering so found someone that will scan the badges and print off the letters in chrome which i hope to attach back on the badges with a careful hand so when i put the 2 badges off got curious to know what it would be like with no badges as its would not take a lots to put them back on ill see how the badges turn out because they are hard to buy then ill make my mind up might be a case of just switching and try to declutter it

many thanks colin

I find badges look much better all in the same font, some moderns have an array of lettering with all different styles.

Speaking of badges, does anyone know a good way to re-silver them?
Never use another Cav driver as guidance to a destination, unless you REALLY want to explore the country.

"Won't SOMEBODY please think of the scones?"

1.7TD Ethos (Slightly broken)
1.8i (Given up, going for parts)
2.0i (WHY won't it work?!)

Hi there that's what I'm in the process of trying, sending my badges off they will scan badges and then get the letters cut out in chrome and then hopefully with a steady hand stick them on I'll put a picture on when they are finished

Wow. I like it.

What about the coloured badges... e.g. Sri / 4x4, abs etc?

I wonder if they can do the same magic with the front and rear badges?

They look brilliant! I wonder if laquering them would help them survive? Although it might lose some of the chrominess.

Many lacquers will dull or gain a yellow taint over time.

I suspect that they should last quite a while as long as they do not become un-stuck or knocked off.
