Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Ecat 24 quotes that part number 90306651 is used for all of these vehicles.
Vectra-A / Cavalier mk3
Calibra
Corsa-B
Tigra-A
So try a search with that part number or for the above vehicles.

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Cheers
Just bought one off ebay for £14 posted
So see what that is like.
Where do you find the part numbers of things from?

For quick online reference, you can visit here...
http://ecat24.com/opel/catalog/models/1/
Make sure you change it to GB, unless you wish to work in the default language - French.
If you put in your VIN, it will filter parts so that you can only see part numbers to fit your car.
Be aware though that not all Cavaliers are listed.
Another point to mention, is that it is primarily an Opel site, so not all UK spec parts / right hand drive parts are listed.
For a full listing, you need to see if you can get a copy of EPC - the vauxhall electronic parts catalogue.

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Thank you very much for that
Its certainly worth having a look at and seeing what I can find.
I have got the bug back a bit so would like to tidy the car up If I can.
I need to tackle my rear brakes as the discs are heavily corroded and the handbrake is very poor

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
So cambelt, waterpump etc is all done.
I put two new tyres on the front also.
Had a weird thing happen on way home though. Had a small grating noise, presumed it was just the brake heat shield catching. Went to turn left and something fell off the car and went underneath it. I have not idea what it was though!

Did you not stop and investigate ?
I am a bit paranoid about strange noises.
I would have to stop and investigate.
Are you missing a mud flap?

Couldn't really stop where I was to he honest would have been dangerous.Robsey wrote:Did you not stop and investigate ?

I am going to go for a drive down that way and see if I can see what it was.
The initial noise I thought was just the front disc heatshield catching, had that problem a couple of times as it is quite heavily corroded so difficult to get to stay in position. Whatever it was bounced along the underside of the car I know that.
The brakes work fine and it is driving fine so not sure what it could have been.
Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Maybe an old nut or clip that had not been thrown away.
As for could not stop... you never met my wife. She will stop anywhere if it suits her..
Ha ha.

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Had it on the ramp today at work
Issue is the drivers front heatshield behind the disc as I thought.
It has corroded and fell off

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Ah yes - the disc dust shield...
They do rot out badly due to being down in all the road spray and muck.
I don't have any fitted on the front.
I bought new ones and then forgot where I put them - for safe keeping - ha ha.

Can't see it being any problem with them not being fitted.Robsey wrote:Ah yes - the disc dust shield...

I am hoping to try and get my sunroof deflector fitted at some point this week
Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Fuel Filler flap arrived this morning and it looks as though it may be the same colour!
Will try and get it fitted later today, only looks as though it is a couple of screws holding it in

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Finally found my centre caps earlier. These are now fitted to the car and I will be taking some photographs later
Also just found this in a bag the previous owner gave me.
Think this will be going on Ebay as I have no use for it

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
They are funky little things.
I have one that James gave me last year.
Make sure you have the code or that the code has been turned off from the radio.
Oh and that all the pixels work.
I had to use the display from another 'brief' member as they are easily damaged by age or ambient moisture.
Good old Grundid SC303 (D) C.
some but not all will have a pin in position 5 for speed dependent volume control.
My original radio had pin 5.. but the last two units I got did not.
(As a total rediculous comment - we have an identical duvet set to yours there - lol).

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Don't know much about any of these other than that it works haha.
I want to put a CD player in at some point as I am currently using a plug-in Portable CD player that connects to the cassette.
I have one lying around somewhere just can't remember where I put it.
The missus took the photos on the duvet when she was lying in bed this morning. This pregnancy thing has her tired haha

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
And heres me thinking that it was your blue varnished nails - ha ha.
There are loads of single din cd players about.
I did think at one time of a flip out screen model, but the head unit sits too deep into the radio facia to allow this to work.
A previous member had a flip out radio fitted in his centre air vents.
A fantastic idea as the display is at a good height for being able to see it better without having to look down too far away from the windscreen.
Not an idea for the purists... but a much more sensible position than offered by 90's Vauxhall designers.
Just for info - but you probably know already - most aftermarket radios have the battery live and ignition live wires fitted the opposite way round to Vauxhall and a few other European manufacturers.

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
Thanks for the advice.
I had one of those cheap ones that aldi/lidl get in every now and again. I know it is lying around somewhere and I don't really want to buy one if I don't need to.
I will get sorted at some point with it haha

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS
the number should be the 2 top number 6 ones in this list. Hard to find now but they do come up, keep an eye on ebay, opel classic parts etc.blaine wrote:some picture as promised, if they work
Chrome trim has also tarnished, again not sure if this can be fixed?
