Yep, worth doing. Especially the windscreen washer reservoir, if they aren't cleaned out from time to time, they begin growing all sorts of mould and algae inside and it smells. Definitely worth doing.

Yeah it was gross lol. Looked liked someone (and I had a car before that this happened too) they'd put the oil in the washer bottle
Small tiny detail I know - but new side indicator seals. Sounds sad I know but all about the little details... Were a bit whitey when I fitted them, but then 20/25 year old stock.... look fine now. Better than what fell apart taking the old ones out

You always need good fresh rubbers whenever you can get them.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
After a big dig around and comparison, I'm really annoyed my mate said that my exhaust didn't fit when having all the major service items done. I checked and checked all the part numbers. So borrowed some ramps and did it myself yesterday. Now, if I can do it on my own with a spanner and some WD40 why couldn't he. It all fits perfectly.
At least it done now, and no more blowing. Plus managed to get rid of a load of surface rust, treat, and spray. Not the tidiest job.

Excellent work, that's exactly how I used to do mine, pair of steel ramps, climb underneath and usually lose most of the skin off my fingers trying to prize off the rubber mount bushes. That old backbox looks like something that was shot down during WW2 and laid at the bottom of a river and got pulled up.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
The hardest bit on an exhaust, is splitting the rear box / tail pipe from the middle box.
All other sections are bolted together, so pretty easy to do.
In your case, you were replacing the back and middle boxes, so much easier to sort.
Garages always seem to struggle with the pipe alignment.
The real test is doing a quick right-hand corner / turn.
My back box (professionally fitted) sometimes vibrates against the rear near side road spring or something when I go a bit too quick or sharp to the right.

Ye, usually have to cut a slit with an angle grinder in the outer section of the backbox which goes over the middle section pipe to loosen it, if it's rusted tight.

Yeah it took a bit of fiddling to get off; but all fitted perfectly, and no rattles! Very happy with the result as never done that myself. Shame that my 'mate' couldn't just do that with all the £700 i spent on the major service, if I can do it with just ramps and a spanner and some WD40

Like I said, they took you for a ride. It's always best to do the simple things yourself, if you can. Saves a lot of hassle. First time I replaced an exhaust pipe by myself, I just did it and taught myself how. With a bit of advice from folks on here as well. But it's so satisfying to be able to do that on your own.
