1989 mk3 cav 2.0 8v sri

Post by Rich P »

i am having a custom airbox made up,not completely finished yet but this what it was like under the bonnet before
Image

now i have a nice shiney airbox, check out the intake :o
Image

still need to fit a K n N filter
Image

there was a bit of silicon hose between the box and throttle body but didnt fit right so i chopped up the original rubber hose and fits much better
Image

the intake pipe is just tempory at the mo,the RAD is gona be moved back so an aluminium pipe can fit through to the box.the flexi tube is bent around the RAD at the mo so quite restrictive.eventually im gona have the battery in a chrome case and the rocker cover sprayed

I did a similiar thing with mine mate, though i put the original box back on and cut a slight hole in the side further away from the engine just the allow the indution kit to fit nicely, then i cut a hole in the front where i have ran a large cold air feed direct to the induction kit, but instead of using the grille for the suction i ran it underneath and then in front of the slats on the bottom of the bumper, i have noticed an improvement and the exterior has stayed the same.

good job you have done so far though mate.

alterator and bonnet cable done.just been having a good old clean at the mo and i had the boot mats out to check on things and found this.........

Image

i wasnt too pleased because i had just had a quote for about 1k to have the rear arches and 2 new sills done, also to have plastic guards on the inside of the rear arches.now i have this problem too.i thought that i should get a quote from another bodyshop and i was pleased with his quote, which was around 600 quid to have the whole lot done including the new problem.ive seen the work they do and its real professional.

Image

this was cause by a hole coming through the arch, you can see it in the next pic

Image

i poked a screwdriver through and this is it comin out the bottom.blurry close up pic sorry.

and mostly, its the decent spec ones that get scrapped or the other thing that infuriates me, because they cant get what they want for it (dreamers im on about), they strip it and scrap a decent shell, usually GSi's
