Ads cav turbo work in progress

Post by Ads »

As the tax runs out on the turbo at the end of the month, its coming off the road again, and over the next few months it getting another makeover, plans are , the engine is coming out, as i have a damaged core plug at the back of the block, this will be renewed along with the rest of the core plugs, all the gaskets to be renewed, and the engine cleaned and painted, while the engine is out , the bay will be cleaned and resprayed, and all the wiring tided, all the front suspention and brake parts will be removed and cleaned and if necessary replaced, all the underside will be re undersealed and all the running gear repainted, (havnt decided what colour yet), all the brake pipes and flexi hoses will be renewed, and what ever else i find that wants doing, i will be fitting my evo 5 chips a bigger intercooler, ajustable fpr, and uprated fuel pump, should be good for about 280-300 bhp, ive have no pics at the moment, but will post plent as and when i get started. Friday 22nd april

Since i actually had a day off, i got a bit done on the cav not a great deal but ticks a job off the list. The fuel gauge has read empty for a while and putting petrol in every time i use it was getting on me nerves so i aquired my mates ramp for the day, after a bit he got the hint that he was fixing it. Did a few tests on the wiring to reaveal it was a problem with the actual sender so off came the tank and the pronlem apeared to be with a contact on the float in the tank which was bent back so it had a good contact rebuilt it back up and appears to be fine. I did take some pics but just mainly of the underside the rust remover and 2 tins of wax oil are doing there job.

Also fitted my new tx actuater and its cured my lack of boost ive had my doubts about the collins one since i fitted it its now holding a steading 7psi and overboosts to about 9 psi it seems to pull better now with the new actuater.

Image

The cav is new up at AAS in newburn to get a 3inch downpipe pipe and a larger capacity back box to quieting it down with a 3.5 inch outwardly rolled tip carnt wait to get it back lol

well seeing as my exhaust was annoyingly loud, i took into a local exhaust place , and got it sorted, got a 3" custom down pipe made, an extra box put in the back section, took the twin tail pipe out and repaced it with a 3" inwardly rolled end pipe, pics aere not the best

turbo now spools up a lot quicker, and it sounds awsome when its coming onto boost, plus its a lot quieter than it was, which was what i wanted. Ads
