hairibo's CDX

Post by HAIRIBO »

Bought her in 2001 as a showroom condition CDX 16v.

Image

But soon started moding her.

She is now a leathered up V6 running a F28 on a lightened flywheel and uprated clutch. Blistiens and poly bushes.

Image

Tho she's off the road while I do a complete engine rebuild using a X30Xe block.

lol no probs mate, I put them on back in 2001, (When no body was doing it), now every one is at it.

But I feel opel suits the Stienmetz badges better, as there are a german company after all., The one on the front grill is no longer there, but the Blitz and Opel name badge are still on the back.

Just thought I'd let you all know what the spec will be once I've finished.

I'm just waiting for the cams to be returned, and the right cambelt cover to arrive.

3litre Block Totally rebuilt, with new bearings seals and piston rings.
Vectra Alloy sump.
3.2l Heads
Piper hi torque (+20Bhp)
Enlarged throttle body
NGK Indium Plugs
10mm Silicon HT leads
Holden 3.8l v6 injectors (Cleaned)
3.8 bar FPR
Cone Air Fliter
Plastic inlet devider
Lightened and balanced Crank and Altenator Pullies

Add this to the F28 box, Stage 1 uprated clutch and Lighented and balanced fly wheel, it should be fun to drive!

Cheers mate. The wheels are Lenso Concept 5's

Got them in 2003, after a year and a half deciding which design to go for. As far as I know they've stopped making them. They still do wheel which is simalar, but its deep dish and has the studs on show.

Result! I've found the right back plate for the came belt, and a garage whiling to fit the new engine, (including towing my cav with the broken 2.5)

Just thinking about have the inlet manifolds sent off to me ported and polished but not sure.

Cheers for the comment bud, lol yeah its a bit of a money pit, the engine rebuilt is starting to cost a small fortune! As for the headlights, its just a couple of layers of heat shrinking tint film, oh and i took the orange filter out of the indicators.

Well just had the Heads Reconed, with new Oil seals and dropped them off alone with all the bolts ready to be skimmed and bolted to the rebuild bottom end. Hopefully gettin it back next weekend, then I'll spend a week bolting everything back together and take it to the gagrage to get fitted, So hoping Mid-late April and hopefully it should be all running with fresh MOT. Fingers crossed. Then start on the body work n get a few things done ready for pod! I want the new rear roof spolier new front grill and rear bumper apron fitted in time.

Then All I need to finish off is a Big brake kit. as its on the 2.0 16v set up with Drilled discs and EBC pads at the moment, I want 308mm but think i'll have to make do with 288mm :-(

308s are massivly overpriced for what you get
£55 for disks and pads from vauxhall, £15 for some spigot rings and £20 for a couple of scrapyard calipers is probably one of the cheapest mods you can do

ive got the drilling template if you want it

There are saabs with the 308's but they are as rare as they are on the vectras so not any cheaper

Latest Update, Engine is having the cam belt fitted this weekend, and the car is being picked up on Tuesday. So I should have it on the road for Saturady after an 18month gap. Cant wait. Just need to source some 4stud 308mm discs and pads, to go with the Vectra GSi calipers I've just got, And I'm waiting for the stainless sports cat to be delivered.

Anyone know where to get 308mm discs from?

Vroom Vroom

Post by HAIRIBO »

Well my camera has a "YOUTUBE" video setting, so I may have to try it out in the tyne tunnel lol, or even start her up in the back yard.

I was at a junction on the seafront on Sunday, to lasses crossed the road and waited on the island next to my car, I blipped the throttle a little and they both screamed  Its kninda what a TVR would sound like if it had a V6 rather than a v8. Didn't really want it that loud. But think the extra 500cc, combined with centre pipe and sports cat as had a big affect on it. God knows what it will be like when I swap the K&N for a RAMAIR.

Its a loud car, but it still sounds nice, as it has the v6 rumble, rather than the 1.0 bigbore saxo sound.

But I do need a better subwoofer, so I can here it over the engine lol.

Well you lot will here it in June, so you can let me know if its a nice sound which suits the cars low dark stance, or if I'm drivin a Chavalier.

right Hairbo, you now stand accused of tormenting us poor enthusiasts and I must, frankly, insist on a video clip uploaded and linked onto the site!

Please get someone to stand on a street and record you approch then pass but make sure you start over 200 meters away and finish likewise
