built up the new turbo, manifold , external wastegate and inlet to get an idea of size etc,







covered the facia and dials I had in the cav previously with carbon fibre film, the oil/pressure and water/temp and fitted into cav and working fine.

little bit of an update, nowt much,, wrapped the tubular manifold in exhaust wrap, trial fitted the oil feed and return hoses,







I will be fitting this setup, with a uprated clutch and hopefully a light weight flywheel, after the show season, when the road tax runs out and the cavs laid up for the winter. thanks for looking

removed old standard cooling fan



fitted 2 x 7 inch slimeline fans to try and create a bit more space for when I eventually fit my new turbo set up





and then started to tidy the under side of the bonnet, by putting carbon fibre film in all the spaces, still to finish

fitted a new oil catch tank today, as the new turbo I am going to fit hasn't a port for the oil breather hose that comes from the rocker cover, so I decide to go the catch tank route, and vent to atmosphere.

My brother is running that turbo on his. He recently had it dyno'd at interpro in thornbury.
It made 361bhp at 1bar, he is running phase 3.5 but doesn't let the ecu control the boost. It does suffer with lag which he is hoping an after market ecu will help with fine tuning the ignition advance to compensate.
His engine spec is
Forged rods and slipper pistons
Light weight crank
Light weight flywheel
Under piston oil squirters
Zlet oil pump and custom pick up pipe
Standard coscast head
Eds inlet manifold
Custom 3inch exhaust

well after trying to fit the manifold and turbo setup pictured in above posts and finding that the turbo fouls the power steering pump bracket, I decide the get another manifold where the turbo sits a lot further to the passenger side of the car, this came the other day and I had 5mins today too trial fit the newly acquired manifold, and I glad to say it looks like everything will fit ok, finger crossed lol, I am awaiting delivery of another turbo, and put the other setup up for sale, a couple of pics of new manifold

The new turbo arrived today, its a gt28 copy with internal wastegate, so trial fitted it onto newly acquired manifold, as you will see from the pics, it fits well and should be plenty of space to fit all the ancillary parts on

started to fit all the ancillary parts to the turbo, fitted the oil intake and return lines, fitted water in and out hoses, and started on the air intake side of the turbo, still need a few parts to finish intake side, then try and sort out how to couple the exhaust side of turbo, a few pics but there not the best,

That manifold looks the dogs, My brother wants a similar setup on his Astra VXR, They are making really good power using a copy garrett turbo which only costs around £200 and they seem to be lasting really well.

had a bit more cav time today, bolted on the manifold, completed the oil intake, coupled up the air intake and I managed to retain the original air box, I'm happy about that, coupled up turbo to intercooler and put on vacuum tubes, now just the exhaust side of things to sort out, a couple of pics,













I then painted the front underside of the cav again just to freshen it up

had a little cav time today, fitted a new oil feed line for the new turbo using braided hose and AN fittings, I took pics of this but they are crap so will not upload them, then fitted exhaust flange and pipe I made up to the exhaust side of the new turbo



fitted my now cut down pipe to the centre section and I'm left with this gap to fill



ive measured it up and I can get a 4inch flexi pipe to fit in there, so job should be a goodun.

Good work. What is it with separated exhausts on this website atm?! Haha!

got the exhaust side of the turbo couple through to the centre pipe, its just placed together for the time being and wants welding up properly later, got the rest of the ancillaries back together that I had to take off, primed the turbo and started the car, made sure oil was flowing through the turbo ok and ran engine up to temperature, had no leaks form oil or water so that's a result, exhaust was blowing where it still requires welding, but now I know it all fits I will get it off to get it welded up, so it looks like jobs a goodun or so it seems
