93 Cav LS - Cav Number 3 (This one will get finished)
Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
I'm going to be a little thick here, but is there much difference in lens shape between pre and facelift.?
I know the lens shape can be a problem on certain front grills etc...
Read it somewhere regarding morrettes etc.
Are you going to do a before and after picture thing for the un-enlightened like me ?

Facelift lights (the lense anyhow) jut out over the lower valance (if thats the right term?) where as the prefacelift lights flush from the lip of the bonnet down to the lower valance just above the bumper.
I have a prefacelift grille too in the process of being sprayed.

Makes sense to me
Don't worry too much if you forget about the pics, your explanation worked fine for me.

Learn to adjust them through a wheel bolt hole. With a flat blade screwdriver you can release them before removing the drum so it is easy to get off. Also this way you can get them adjusted right up without the lip on the drum causing difficulty. It takes a bit of practice, but it by far the best way to adjust them, and Cav drums respond really well to this method. Adjust them up with the cable let right off ensuring the lever arms on the shoes go back to the stops too.Robsey wrote:
Adjustment of the self adjuster mechanism isn't too scary.
Then again a heavily lipped drum can be a real donkey to get off - plastic faced mallet usually works for me.
Come to think of it...yeah, drum brakes are a real pain aren't they !!

we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

useful mod if you spend a lot of time in traffic, otherwise I don't think I'd bother

Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
Anyhow, so I start poking at the cav tonight, needed to remove a peice of trim to sit my radio in properly and while I was at it, I though I'd replace the bulb for the heater... and it still doesn't work
Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
Whilst it's out, are you going to put any extra lighting in, because we all know the heater panel illumination is very poor.

Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
I only ever took the panel right out if it was being replaced because they are such a git to do, everything else was keyhole surgery

Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
yeah, be careful not to break the clips, lol. The only tip I can give is that from memory, it is easier to attach them to the controls leaving the other ends loose, and attach the other end once it is all manoeuvred into place.

Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
use a pick set, snap on used to do a set of four with different shaped ends and the hook shaped one was good for doing these

Re: 93 Cav LS - Run about
Lets see, in the past wheel, I've lost a new tyre curbed an alloy to hell and blown an alternator
So, today after my slight concusion from Tuesday subsided slightly I started working on fitting my sourced replacement 100amp alternator
