93 Cav LS - Cav Number 3 (This one will get finished)
Re: 93 Cav LS - Cav Number 3 (This one will will get finishe
Indeed - the sun stayed out,
The coffee and bacon butties were great.
And my Cav absolutely flew over the "tops" between Chapeltown near Sheffield and Glossop.
probably because my boot was almost empty on the way back.

That was empty for me...
only 2 tool bags, a tool box, fuel can, gallon of oil, and some wheelchair crap.

Tend to find only 'essential' stuff gets done during the winter..
Too cold, dark, wet and windy unless you are fortunate enough to have a garage.
Which neither you nor I have.
Doesn't help that Fogs is kept so far away from you.

Fricking depressing that this has been going on for 3 years now.
Re: 93 Cav LS - Cav Number 3 (This one will will get finishe
Aye - I know the feeling.
I have had the VW T25 Rot Box camper van half stripped out for a full refurb since May 2011.
Only spent 1 1/2 hours on it last year - yet more stripping down, but this time the knackered flat four boxer engine.
After this length of time though, it becomes a spectre hanging over you and constantly nagging at you, rather than a pleasurable challenge.
There are times that I think "just scrap it" and other times where I want to "get at it".
I worry that I will feel that way about the Cav in six months time.

Great repair work, Looks pretty tidy.
You should of kept all the old bits to use as a template.
Also have you thought about using zintec steel sheet, I see the repair sections have flash rusted.

Yeah, need to order some up. The old bits where not useful Troy, What was incomplete, and didn't really have enough shape left to it.btcctroy wrote:Great repair work, Looks pretty tidy.

But thanks, not my welding (yet) But we shall see how it takes shape.

Woohoo!!
Good to see that things are finally getting going again.
Hmmm - yes, zintec is quite readily available and should slow down the corrosion a bit.
Did you not keep any "reference" panels from Smokey?
I know you spent quite a while picking all the panels off very carefully.

Kept what reference panels I could - however, alot of the same damage was present so alot of it just got weighed in.Robsey wrote:Woohoo!!

I find that if I make up a tick off sheet of things to do that helps me focus and get things done. I had 3 cars to work on and ended up having to do this to keep things in control and keep a tab on what I was doing.Envoy CDX wrote:Well, almost a year on and still no further forward.

Yeah, I started drafting such a list of things on the train back from Manchester today.cavalier1990 wrote:I find that if I make up a tick off sheet of things to do that helps me focus and get things done. Lists have a habit of getting longer, not shorter. Well mine do.

All in good time my friend.
It was good to meet and chat last night.
Regarding lists... they can be counter productive especially if they start to get overwhelmingly long

Just read the whole WIP. What an epic project.
Is this your only Cav now? I loose track.

Yip they do change but at least you got a tab on what you are supposed to be doing. I just create a word doc, break down into engine|interior|bodywork plus a parts list. Jobs a good un!Robsey wrote:All in good time my friend.

It will be a year or two before this project moves ahead... so one for the long term members.
