wow!! slightly tangential random comment.
Re: My 1994 Cavalier LSi 1.8CFi (C18NZ) Work-horse
Recently I found the brown elbow of the throttle body vacuum pipe had snapped.
This brought with it a little hesitation when cold and damp, and also a massive amount of air being sucked in where it shouldn't
I covered both ends of the snapped elbow with duck / tank tape to prevent air being sucked in. Just whilst I looked for one of these stupidly weak / brittle components.
This cured the start up hesitation/ initial lumpy idle, however it did badly affect fuel consumption.
Got a replacement today from a scrapper, and everything is fine again.
Good smooth starting and idling, and the car just generally drove better.
Fuel that was in the tank seemed to last a bit longer aswell

It's always the small jobs that offer the most satisfaction I find:)

These little elbow joints are just so weak /brittle - and it makes such a difference when they fail.
It would be worth keeping a few spares, just like I keep spare fuses and bulbs in the boot of the car.
The only problem is that EPC does not list them as an indevidual part, so it is always a lottery to find one in the scrap yard instead.

Yup, always tend to be smashed / snapped.Robsey wrote:These little elbow joints are just so weak /brittle - and it makes such a difference when they fail.

Yes, pictures were delayed by a whole host of computer virus and software problems.
All sorted now, so here are the pictures.
This post is the effect of the oil pressure reducing as my engine warms up.
As the engine breaths quite a bit louder than it used to, I can probably assume that my crank bearings are getting worn.
If it was staying quiet, but reducing in pressure, then I would blame the oil pump.
To explain the gauge values, here is the TIS diagnostic readings values.
Oil Pressure Gauge - Astra GTE
1st Segment = 30 KPa or 4.35 psi
2nd Segment = 100 KPa or 14.5 psi
3rd Segment = 200 KPa or 29 psi
4th Segment = 300 KPa or 43.5 psi
5th Segment = 400 kPa or 58 psi
Temp Gauge
1st segment = 50 C or 122 F (blue segment)
2nd segment = 70 c or 158 F
3rd segment = 80 c or 176 F
4th segment = 100 c or 212 F
5th segment = 110 c or 230 F
6th segment = 120 c or 248 F (Warning light flashes)
Here are the pictures.

And that pesky pipe, well here is my newly replaced elbow joint, however I did see a C18NZ with just a rubber vacuum pipe linking the metal stub to the fine bore plastic vacuum tube.
And here is a tasteful picture of my Jalopey outside a nursing home that I was visiting (on work's behalf of course).

Good pictures Rob, hopefully the oil pressure issue doesn't get too bad before you get the chance to sort it. Is it growling now?
Re: My 1994 Cavalier LSi 1.8CFi (C18NZ) Work-horse
No it's not growling, it just sounds like my exhaust is blowing...but it isn't
It is just breathing louder than it should.
And per your request, here is link to my cruise controls operating my volume and source buttons on my CD70.

Looked good but sounded crap through my phone.
Don't have my laptop speaker on, so don't know how bad it sounds on the link.
I just noticed that I must have been waving my phone arround whilst videoing.
Hopefully, so far that is everything that youwanted to see.

As discussed with Gary, (EnvoyCDX), I have been having a bit of dual / over amplification of my bluetooth kit.
At the moment I get a lot of harsh noise for approx 5 seconds, then it all settles down and the phone is clear through my front speakers.
I believe both my nokia kit and the CD70 headunit are amplifying the audio signal from my phone, causing the initial noise and distortion.
I'm using a cheap and chearful Nokia CK-7W...a really basic unit, but works well.
Using an external speaker will stop the audio in going crazy...was about £15 from e-bay. (This is how they are usually sold anyway.
Head-unit speakers are better for your Bury / Parrot kits.
Going to make up a speaker enclosure, and cover it in black "spacer" fabric to make it look smart - will probably mount it in the cubby hole above the glovebox.
Just tried this during my lunch break, and the external speaker is a vast improvement - no harsh noise or anything - just crisp clear audio in from the phone.
(Photos to be posted later when I get chance to upload this evening).
Also I have managed to source a wiper stalk to fulfill all my needs from an Omega
Wiper stalk was £15 - ticks all the boxes, so looks like more radio control options
Not sure how soon I'll get it done though...another two birthdays this weekend (friday and saturday), and then go on my hols to devon in 3 weeks for 7 days. ..then it is full scale winter and MOT time.

Here is my Bluetooth kit during testing
The unit sits behind the centre console panel, on the passenger side of the heater matrix.
When a call comes in, my display says "External In", and the car speakers are muted
This is my test speaker cone, from a computer external speaker
As said in my post above...I definately recommend using an external speaker for call clarity

Isn't Blue Nose a range of cuddly teddies, a bit like "Me to you" except the teddies all have blue noses of course...
I do have a blue tooth visor, but I have to remember to turn it on and off, and re-charge it. Reception is spot-on though
With the Nokia kit, it is all done for me.
Also the kit has a data cable attached, which charges my personal mobile.

Excellent
Same car kit I've thought about fitting a couple of times, until I repair the Bury kit I have kicking about.

Do you have a wiring diagram / colour-code list for the wires.Envoy CDX wrote:Excellent

If not, then it is yellow for mute
red for live
blue for ignition live
black for earth.

I had it pre-wired to my stereo loom so I didn't hack any of the existing loomRobsey wrote:Do you have a wiring diagram / colour-code list for the wires.Envoy CDX wrote:Excellent

I need to extend the wiring though as it's a bit short. So may look for a spare loom yet, not sure.
Re: My 1994 Cavalier LSi 1.8CFi (C18NZ) Work-horse
There are dozens of looms on e-bay...should be less than £5 including post
I got a complete CK-7w with all new parts for £21 for the wife's vectra !!
