Looking very clean and solid considering that it has been stood in the elements for a year or so.

Shame about the Vectra-C rear suspension not being suitable after all that work.
Would the Astra-H be any better?
It is a narrower car, but should have similar suspension as it is from the same "technological era".

Vauxhall do like to share as much design and parts across the range to keep costs down.

Those pictures are from last night Rob.
I painted the arches 18months ago with epoxy then stonechip followed by rustoleum, essentially Hammerite.
The reason was so any rust returning will be visual. There is one small blister about 1inch in the driver's wheel arch.

The struts in the car are cavalier / vecra hybrids and are splitable. I have also corrected the steering arms a level position on a low ride height

Astra h has a solid rear axle. It's not independent like the vectra.

Thinking about it I fancy making my own set up. A big saving in weight too.

I think the general gist is that Troy has a several other jobs on before his own Cavalier gets started.

Some like mine are paying jobs, but many are his own / families, and so are non-paying.

So - the answer is likely to be later in the year - perhaps summer or autumn


Apoligies to Troy for speaking on his behalf, but I know he is very busy and so does not visit the site very often.

He does plan to get back onto this.
Something to do with a fully designed suspension set-up, to replace the Vectra-C rear independent suspension set-up that didn't quite fit properly.

It is still sat next to my Transporter in his unit.
On the right edge of the photo.


Covered in dust and tarpaulins.
It hasn't moved since July 2019 that I know of.

He has his other pride and joy car to refurbish first.
(Sorry not a Vauxhall).

When he isn't modifying and tweaking his track-day Nova 20XE.


He doesn't visit the site much since we stopped using tapatalk.

Nice to see the cav is still alive

Aye - he loves his loud brash cars.
You can hear the car long before you see it.

He is always telling me how wonderful the 20XE is paired up with the F16 gearbox.
He recently modified the rear inner arches / wheel tubs to fit coil-overs.

He really is a crazy eccentric... in a good way.

The Cavalier on the other hand... still has the front off-side wing removed.
But looks pretty much comlplete from the outside.
Complete with the alloys.
