Satin red cav turbo

Post by Robert-in-Notts »

Heres pics an stuff of excavating the satin red cav T with a member from vodc who offerd to come help , man he was a godsend then had a quick look around it once it was back.

wheels had sank in about 2 inches so we had to dig them out abit, still had air in all 4 after 4+years

everything appears to work apart fromt the rear passenger window. fuel lines are leaking at the back, turn ignition on an heard the trickle lol. was under abit of pressure too. going to drain it, put fresh in once pipes are sorted, check engine out, drain oil thats in it, add fresh, change coolent, check for oil pressure then see if she fires up. :D surprising clean for how long and where it was sat, my white shell appears in worse condition then this one

Wow thats gonna need some cleaning up! Great find though :D

I take it you got it dirty cheap??

Are you planning on keeping that shell or stripping it for bits? If keeping it i'd have a really good poke about underneath before you decide.

Keep us posted :)

Cheers everyone for the comments, and i got it for £450, been stood all that time as it had a missfire, now put that down to the fact theres no compression in cylinder 1, its either the piston, or a valve, but either way i have enough bits to sort it thankfully.

seams rather solid underneith, either way its working out it needs less welding then my white one. looks like im definetly keeping this one, an the white one.... well thats yet to be decided.

I have a soft spot for these, shame unmolested ones are rare. I had one that I was running for a customer trying to reproduce a fault a few years back, think I had it a couple of weeks in the end. Family practicality with performance. If one came up at the right money I'd probably be interested, but then I'd have to convince the missus to let me sell my 280 Capri as it's hogging my garage!

Yes they did a Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo, 4 wheel drive, 2 litre 16v Turbo. 204BHP

Quite rare to see about and so not many people know they exist. :)

All excellent progress.

So, you'll have it running tomorrow, and taxed and MOT'd before the end of the month ?

Well done, good work so far :thumb
