ok
bought this 2 weeks ago now
its a 1995 vauxhall cavalier 1.7 GLS TD
5 door saloon
bought as a SRi Replica
previous owner only had the car 2 weeks when another car hit him an has bought another car since an just wants this gone
so i got this pretty cheap an jumped at the chance
anyway here are the pictures, i've rambled on to much
wat it needs
2 patches under the back bench needs cut out an new patches welded in, grinded down then painted over, you can see the 2 patches there are quite rough
needs new springs as the ones in the front are cut springs
balljoint drivers side
new locking panel, grille, headlight an indicator, bonnet an possibly a wing to finish
i also bought a SRI cav for parts from a scrap yard
as the car was declared as scrap i couldn take the hole car, so i have to go up this week sometime an screw off all the panels, take the sri interior, dash included, anything on the car that i can take is coming with me, the full SRi cavalier, minus an engine, skirts an boot spoiler cost me £150, an its in the same colour as my car which i suppose is a bonus
comments an criticism please
thanks for lookin also
i bought fan blade alloys yesterday which are in need of 3-4 centre caps, so if anyone is seling centre caps please pm me as i need them so i can get mine refurbed

1 new radiator fan
balljoints
new driveshaft boot
pads an discs all round
4 new tyres
new springs all round
few bulbs
new door pins all round
bits of welding here an there
i'll take new pics tomorrow of the bits need welded
also needs interior screwed down an the roof lining put back up
handbrake cable tightined
i'll update this as much as i go

all in real good shape

looks like a fair amout of work and money are needed for your project , would it be eaier to use it for parts on a more straight cav ? have the rear arches been replaced as the door shut gap looks a bit tight ?
anyway enough of my comments, good luck withthe project and keep us all posted

yea been quoted £4-600 on welding alone
i was asked to find a better cav but red saloon dervs are like hens teeth over here
rear arches are in very good shape, an are also original, maybe its the way i was standing taking pictures?

Fancied a diesel meself at one point (prior to the F28 in mine), but would have tried to fit a bigger capacity TDi lump in... any plans along this route or just keep her "stock"... ish... (no idea if irish road rules are the same as ours, re conversions)

not sure wat i can do till mine to make it any quicker
its a standard 1.7td izuzu engine
nothing else done to it
just for now i wanna get it looking sound an all the welding done to a really good high point
then once its passed its mot then i can think about more power
tho im not sure wat i can do till get more power or wat i can do
regarding the rules, hmmmmm
if the cops dont know about wats under the bonnet nothing to worry about
an when your gettin your car mot'd they have no authority to touch or refuse an mot as its only the road worthyness they are looking for

Just a quick note fella;
For the record we appear to have recently had an insurance company registeron the site... which means they can view WIP's and showroom threads. Obviously when you said "if the cops dont know about wats under the bonnet nothing to worry about" it was meant entirely in jest and not to be taken seriously as we are all responsible cavalier owners and would never want to lead anyone to believe we would flout the law or misrepresent our vehicles to our insurers... That would be illegal and not something anyone would condone...
Fit a 1.9 CDTi engine. Or there is the option of restriction removal and manual boost controller.

yea mate i get what your saying
myself if i was puttin in a new engine i would do it right an change my tax book to say what the new engine is
no point buying a 1.6 cav an puttin in a 2ltr 16v turbo, then insuring it as a 1.6, having an accident then gettin done for having no car insurance
i would rather keep the 1.7td izuzu engine as its hard to blow up lol
i would like a bit more power but i do not want any smoke when i put the foot down

yea only for a mate tellin me he had the exact same colour car in his yard only missing an engine
but the car i bought the parts off was a proper SRI cavalier
but all was there that i needed
a mate of mines brother is going to do all the welding to the car, then me an my mate are going to build her up an get it through the mot
then hopefully in 3 - 4 weeks i'll be driving her

Going to need most of the floor done looking at that.
Was the windscreen damage a result of the accident do you know? If it is, I'd look for another shell..

Nah the windscreen just had a wee crack in the centre of the windscreen an i think it would have been an mot failure
was about the length of a car key
so i hit the windscreen a crack one day for a laugh an a crack went from the size of a key to the size of the windscreen lol
