1/2 a cup of persil in the cooling system for a day or two works wonders for breaking down the oil. Well done chap.

:cheers

Actually ready to roll Jimmy, but want to do a few odd jobs before taking her for a proper run - want to get swap dodgy peeling alloys for a set of steels I have and hose off 3 months of garage dirt, then off I go! If I can, that'll be this weekend :)

the forte stuff smells of oranges too which is great cos whenever you put the heater on for the weeks that follow a succession of flushes your car interior is wonderfully fragranced

Thanks Envoy :)

Small update, almost finished spraying the steelies.
The £10 GSI grille turned up yesterday, another one for the 'when I get a respray' pile.
Have been ghey and bought a new reg for the car...nothing clever as I'm not a fan of 'personalised' reg plates.

:D

I went for M900 CAV, mainly as it had cav in the reg and my cars an M. Nicely tying in is that the Saab 900 used the Mk3 floorpan...so it all links in. Sort of. :D

Think I can just about make out a little patch of rust coming through on the bonnet....

Dave did I miss something? What's with the rusty bonnet? Or is that just there as a 'placeholder' while you sort your actual bonnet out?

Re: Lowrider Dave's V6

The cav was bought originally to do a banger rally to Romania in. The theme was RatRod and I got as far as getting red steels and rusting the bonnet whilst dealing with the oil cooler when I trapped a nerve in my back.

This put me out of action for a few months and set the timetable for getting the car ready well back. Although well enough to now return to work working half-days as a 'fazed' return to work, I was under advice from Doctor and physio not to do the rally as recovery from the trapped nerve is around 8 months and I could just make the matter worse and even risk a slipped disc. So I relented.

I have now turned to my long term plan of restoring the cav. This week I went to a local vehicle restorer to go over what needed doing, etc. I want new sills, wings, arches, a respray, etc. At the moment this will commence in November as it's a small dedicated outfit would don't do rush/bodge jobs.

The rusty bonnet will stay until I get a new one when resto commences. Hope this brings you up to speed and explains things!

Oh yeah, I think my heater motor (blower) is bust, I replaced the resistor and tried it and it made a hideous noise and no blow - Gaz says the motors caput and I agree with him. Now I have to get a replacement...£60 online :o

Took her to work today and noted the expansion tank cap rubber looked odd when I checked the water level. When I got home the 'low water' light came on so I popped the bonnet and was greeted by a flood of brown water...new cap required then.

Interesting this was the first day our with the new reg. M900 CAV, as I headed down my road to home I saw a dark blue cav reg A20 CAV going the other way and we waved! Never seen that cav before, so it either comes to the nearby estates to work or just passing through!
