My Cav Motorsport

Post by iangsi »

Well thought it was about time to show mine bought it to replace my GSI as the family car, while I try to restore the GSI ! Owned it for about 18 months, but only been on the road for about 1year

both while briefly on the road together
Image

No major mods planned just repairs & some subtle upgrades,
1st major service @ 72,000 miles K & N filter, fuel & oil filters, engine flushed, new oil, new plugs, HT leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, EGR blanked off,
Image

Then the backbox went managed to get a Peco stainless one of e-bay
Image

Smoked side repeaters
Image

New vaux front & rear rubber matts
Image

New leather gaitors seems to be going the black & red theme inside by accident
Image

Vectra handles managed to retain the cav key & wanted the old ones for the GSI
Image

front fogs fitted & working
Image

changed all the front bulbs for Philips bluevision zenon & replaced the broken arial with an GSI electric one from the breakersl

latest change modified a facelift grill also from the breakers to look like a GSI one but no pics of that yet.

I do love Cesaro seats. Nice looking motor there mate. I'd love a Black 1.8 as an everyday car.

No major plans as its the daily runabout, it might be called a Motorsport but as it's a 1.8 there's nothing sporty about it, but I have got a boot panel & another wing badge to go on it in place of the ABS badge I'm thinking about fitting. thanks for the comments.

Wind deflectors fitted

E-bay purchase I know it's motorsport & not a cesaro but the badge is right & they are better than the rubber ones, just need some rear black carpet mats now !

Found this in my dad's garage out of one of his old company cars, contents out of date but can soon change them

Did you cut the front bumper to fit the spots or buy one?

Are GSI spots the same as SRI ones?

I cut my bumper to fit the fogs on the back of the bumper there is a pattern to show you what size hole to cut, GSI & SRI fogs are different

Well not much done, swapped the wheels off my GSI to make sure they were still round as they have stood for over a year & the tyres are better eg: Pirelli & Toyo against Nankang & Fate-O

Image

only thing is the 55 profile tyres make it look like it's riding high.

Did the LED mod to the illuminated sun visors I got off K1ngy, then fitted.
Image

Sorted a set of mud flaps, just got to fit them now, fed up with the dirt up the side of the car.

Not much of an update been busy driving it, fitted & wired a new interior light with the map lights in it to replace the standard single one, removed the Clifford alarm as you had to open the bonnet to hear the siren, but worked other than that. Fitted the replacement seat base to the drivers seat I picked up @ the spare's day, as the old one had a fag burn in it. Sorted the lumpy idle was down to an air leak on the rigid pipe that goes onto the inlet manifold don't know what it's called though. Got to fit the 2 front door cards as mine have lifted & split & that's about it for now. No pics though.

A little update of an interior upgrade can you spot the difference ?

Headrest came courtesy of Dan90 & the GSI he broke & GSIPIE for the tip about the auto glym spray dye, shelf came out more grey than black even using the whole tin as it was really faded, but much improved.
