V6 Cav - Work In progress

Post by Stoater85 »

ok as it started out:

Then the kit and wheels on:

Then the suspension and exhaust:

RIGHT, DO NOT ANYONE HAVE A GO FOR ME ATTEMPTING THIS, BUT THE CARDS WILL END UP BINNED ANYWAY SO THOUGHT I'D TRY A TEMP MEASURE BEFORE I FIND NEW CARD...

ok - now just started to paint door card fabric as they no longer match the leather interior. This was always a risk as it may screw up, and I think it will, but i have nothing to loose as the door cards looked S.H.I.T anyway!!!

depends on the fabric, it has left this a tad tougher but it looks pretty good. I wouldn't recommend spraying fabric but for the odd wee thing its fine. I will post once its complete and tidied and touched up and let you all know how it goes.

What type of paint did you use ? special fabric paint or normal rattle can, as I need to do the back shelf in my motorsport as it has faded something rotten.

That's a mighty fine Cav you have there, nice job with the door card, I was thinking of doing mine, I have some grey ones I wouldn't mind having a go at, keep us posted on how they turn out :thumb

I just used normal matt black mate. It works fine especially on a parcel shelve. Fabric stuff only helps retain the fabric texture but it never really works! So I just bought this stuff £1 a tin at Poundland LOL super bargain!!!

I cant get decent pics till weekend as I start work when its dark and finish when its dark!! lol

Hi, the car had a respray but not the roof as that saved quite a few quid. It was only re-sprayed to ensure the kit matched - as you can see from the 'before' pics, there was no rust or anything although there were a couple of minor dents which got sorted during the respray.

thanks!

yes i put the same on my last cav, and my veccy GSI's too. I love the look of them, especially outward rolled as the little lip that it gives it makes it a little more sporty and bigger.

thats the previous owner mate - i bought it off him as he decided against the project as he was after another lotus carlton. He only had this for a couple of months. He is the guy that made the lotus carlton estate - well obviously it wasnt a real lotus as it was an estate but it went round loads of shows.

Looks really good. I would only recommend this as a temp or cheap measure as its not perfect but its surprisingly ok for a £5 mod!! 4 tins of paint from poundland and a roll of masking tape ;)

Next wee mod:

Corsa gear stick with vextra selector insert in the top:
