Progress thread!
Just an update on Chipphat the economical ratrod!
mismatched fuel flap cover sorted!
Few funny stickers.
Bigger better speakers to drown out the noisy diesel.
Rear shot twin 3" rear box 2.0 SRi mid section and gutted cat!
Alloys before fitting,
And with them now fitted and they fit the arches nice!

I just don't understand people that cover their cars in silly stickers
if you like stickers that much, go buy a sticker book or something.

Not to my taste either, but I don't have to drive it.
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Re: Progress thread!
Just making it mine and individual. Which is what modding is about and I'm more into modding than concours. If you see me you will definately know it's me! Ha ha! I'm also not one for making my car into something it's not like making it an SRi rep or similar. At the end of the day they are just stickers and are easily removed. I like it being a marmite car. The wheels have transformed the handling and suit the stance more than the steels.
Thanks for the positive and negative and inbetween comments.
Didn't think I'd love the cavalier as much as I do especially after my MR2!

Re: Progress thread!
Depends on what mods turn up for the future really just gonna concentrate on sorting out the little bits of rust, new discs and pads needed, sort out where the previous owner took the paint off the boot removing the badges and sort out the arial. Already fitted a pipercross filter and gave it a service.

Re: Progress thread!
It's already lowered on 40mm gsi lowering springs and shocks fitted by the previous owner sits lower at the front think its due to the heavy engine! Gonna do my shims at some point too just don't have the time! Got a Kawasaki Ninja for my speed kicks! Gonna try and kick the sticker habbit! Although I am looking out for a John Cleland car sticker loved him as a kid! Love touring cars!

Re: Progress thread!
mines isn't 'stuck under a cover' its there by choice, if I wanted a daily driver, I would simply buy one. just because you have swapped your way into owning a cavalier turbo doesn't change who you are.TurboSteve wrote:least your out driveing your car mate and its not stuck under cover hideing

As people have said V6 each to there own! You started it with harsh comments I personaly think you have a nice car and the cavalier to me is my long haul individual car if I wanna go fast I use the motorbike if I go anywhere with the family I use the Leon which has no stickers at all! The cav is the fun workhorse that is looked after very well for an old diesel!

Re: Progress thread!
Each to their own, but I don't mind your work mate.
I know what people will say now... I have some stickers on my auto bla bla... But as lew893 quite rightly pointed out, they're only stickers, only there for fun, so can be removed etc.
Personally, I really like the Scrappage Scheme Survivor one. Really makes a good point that. Other than that, it looks a very tidy car. Just don't go too mental like I did at one point
Andrei.

Coolio! This car may go to my mam later in the year so the stickers will have to come off then anyway.

Re: Progress thread!
Hey mate. I like the way you dont take your car too seriously. I'm thinking of getting a hacth td as a daily runner. And i'd be torn between doingt it up to make it look nice or leaving it as a workhorse.
I'd problies go for the scrap look. Steel wheels, rusy panels. lol.

Re: Progress thread!
Keep it up mate,(mirrors sticker bombed next?) Each to there own, not everyone has stupid money to spend on a car so budget modding is where it's at! Only thing i ever spent big money on was the re spray on mine, if i could would have also done that myself!
Your car your choice! That's my opinion.

Re: Progress thread!
I was just thinking on the way down to Leagrave about the wing mirrors as they are a dull grey and thought about carbon fibre wrap but there is also a guy on eBay that has started doing specific vauxhall sticker bomb so may try that! Gonna take off the HID bulbs that were fitted by the previous owner as im not keen on them. My MR2 was my serious car so having a bit of fun with this one! Goes a bit better now the exhaust is sorted too!
