Post by Chrissakav »

Hi :wave

Thanks for the welcome peeps!! Ive allready introduced myself in the intro section. Just been taking some pictures of my Flame red 1991 Cav SRI looking nice n shiney :cool

85,000 miles from new. Belonged to my Dad, Ive been the proud owner since he passed away just over 2 years ago.

No mods planned, would prefer to keep as standard as possable

Was looking at some pictures on here a couple of months back and spotted Anita's Cav with the Cesaro Wheels....That was where i got the inspiration from :D ... I like the look of Foxycav :cool Though i probably wont lower my cav... so dont know if it will look as good.

In two minds at the moment weather to put them on , Just spent hours and hours prepping and finishing one in Vauxhall Moonland silver/grey, But im not 100% fussed on them. Was thinking of redoing in a nice White. What do ya think peeps?

Also some Gearbox probs at the mo... Ill make another post on that one methinks...

No one should ever lower their car as low as mine Chris, its a pain in the bum sometimes  I have to crawl over speed humps, and i mean crawl  Not practical at all, especially if you have tiny people in the back lol. Thankfully no one ever sits in the back

That is looking nice Chris. its lovely to see an early SRi still going strong, im sure your dad would be proud

I had a SRi like that about 10 years ago . The fight I had with it was trying to keep it red, it wanted to turn pink every couple of weeks in a few places.

Thanks for the comments :)

Funny thing with red cars Greig, My Dads freind owned this for 14 years, it was kept outside in all weathers.... But somehow it has kept its pigment. He used to polish and t cut it once a month, it probably has only one coat of paint left on it :o

Its amazing after 18 years it can keep its colour. You can see the picture with the freshly painted mirror, hardly any difference :) I say, funny though the bootip spoiler has actually gone Orange

One of my neighbours has a 1997 Astra in the same colour and it does look Pink!

play with the contrast and brightness in photoshop after selecting the center using the circular selector tool you should be able to scale them over the current 14"s... I'd offer but due to a new linux install and using a USB keyboard, I can't get at windows (dual OS PC)... but Linux is so cool... in fact I'll post some pics of the desktop soon :D ...
Oh for Linux users who will undoubtedly point out GIMP is Photoshop for Linux, I'm still working out how to play in that effectively.

On the car; really nice example that mate white wheels do work but the colour you have them will look good to... the trim piece isn't one I'd be ashamed to own on a cav as long as it isn't poking out 5 miles past the bumper
Like it buddy... :D

Thanks guys.

Gaz, your Cav looks splendid with them white compmotives?! :cool And, them blue centres sets it off nicely :cool
Liking the Vectra too :cool I Think im decided now, White is defo the colour for me.

I really like the suttle look of them astra? sport wheels at the mo.. but i fancied a change and got the Cesaro's. That Moonland colour didn't really do anything for me, looked a bit of a ''dirty'' shade. I was actually thinking of white to start with, but was afraid they would look a bit too flashy, and didn't fancy cleaning them every blooming 5 mins :wall But i think i am now prepared for that, just a sacrifice we have to make :)

Squig, Ive never planned on using photoshop, i've never actually used it before and probably never will :? Im rubbish with computers. Thats why i put that side view on with the hope somebody would photoshop it for me..... :D :D

Keep you posted when i get round to finishing the wheels, probably about two years at the rate i work

Looks great :)
Nice and original too. A good wax helps prevent flame pink / chalking too.

Nice car there bud. I never understood why Vauxhall made sports versions of the cav and gave it Range Rover suspension!? :scratch I'm a big fan of lowered cav's though. All the same, it's nice to see such an early example looking so good.
