My new toy :-)

Post by John Owens »

With the cav GSI off the road for the foreseeable future , I thought it was time to get back behind the wheel of a griffin today so here she is :

Full years ticket as of today , 6 months road tax & a fully rebuilt redtop dropped in that's only done 900 miles since it was recond . Drives like a dream :-)

Well it's a Vauxhall, that's the main thing :thumb

There is a red Calibra 4x4 around here locally, only down the road from me, other than that, I don't actually see any around any more..

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Nice.......Another Vauxhall saved then, these Calibras in good condition are getting rare now and as Andrei put you dont see many about now..
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Thanks guys for your comments . Yes , calibras are very thin on the ground these days unfortunately :-( . I've only drove it a few miles but I've noticed it gets loads of attention already lol . This car has to be one of the cleanest I've seen for years & tbh that's what swayed me onto buying it . I'm going to keep it pretty much standard but there is a couple of wee things I'm going to do to it so I can put my " stamp " on it lol .
Finding the centre caps fir my wheels is no 1 priority lol ! :-)

Looks lovely John, nice find. DTM stylee a gogo hehe! You only have to look at the side-on shot of the car to see how brilliant the design is. So influential too - not only the most aerodynamic production car in the world on its release, but without it there would be no Pug 406 Coupe or any of the other rip offs that followed. A real triumph for Wayne Cherry and co. Good work.

Yeah , I totally agree Dan ! The more I look at it the more I like it lol . My neighbour said that a bus driver stopped a double decker next to it to take a photo of it & apparently the bin men were all over it too ! Lol . I do remember though that back in the day there was a lot of negativity towards them , that's probably why I've never bothered with one up until now , but I have to say it drives perfect & I'm chuffed to bits with it . I went on a 60 mile round trip last night to buy some cross drilled rear brake discs for the gsi & there were some very twisty Ayrshire roads , it glided along them effortlessly & went exactly where you pointed it .
It does need a couple of wee things done ( usual sunroof probs & a couple of bits of paint tidied up ) then it'll be perfect :-)

Exactly ! Hairibo , especially with the redtop fitted too ! It does shift but its not as fast as my gsi ( yet ) ;-)

( I'm googling BBS alloys as I write this lol )
