1986 mk2 cav cabrio restore cav number 4

Post by kirsty »

well as most know me and kevin decided to restore this so we picked it up yesterday and to say im in love is an understatement

does need some work but it is solid underneath and some surface rust and some wee tiny bits of welding and she will be going for an mot

as soon as we got her to the house today we stripped everything that was removable out to get a better look at her

plans are mot and tax new paint job, new heart, leather seats, digi dash, lowered and a nice set of alloys and a new hood

I worked with a guy that had a slightly worrying addiction to these. He and his wife had one each and a spare. They were a proper smart looking car in their day. Will be interested to watch the progress.

Agreed - I love the mk2's.

Being a 2 door Cabrio this will be a really nice rare car when finished.

The only reservation I have is the Digi Dash.
It will be more or less a direct fit with minor wiring changes... but having had a digi dash in my mk3 for about 5 years, I have sort of fallen out of live with them.

The purist in me says that a mk2 is so special, that I would keep the visual appearance as original as possible.
(This is a bit of a hypocritical statement from me as none of my mk3 dash is original / standard.)

Looking forward to seeing the progress :love

If its got an ECU its the 18SE (which it should be on an 87) if not its the 18E.
