Cavalier replacement, it has finally given up.
Here's my recently bought Golf GT TDi, 71,000 on the clock, remapped to 175bhp and currently getting around 50mpg.
Sadly, the cavalier is now sat tucked away in the shed. She'll be a breaker soon so I'll be putting a few bits up on here for sale in the coming weeks.

I went to VAG... Got a Passat Estate 1.8 20v Turbo... Awesome car!!!
Until it started to go wrong... Use to have to disconnect the battery every night...
Then I lost all the door controlled electrics...
Had an ABS light come on and need the VAG-COM to read it...
VW charge the earth and no local owners were willing to help... One asked for more than VW!!!
Now selling for spares or repairs as fed up of it.. lol
Looks good Enjoy it

Externally, it was sound but it's last MOT came with 11 advisories and most were breaks related. I bought the Golf and got a friend to drive the Cav home for me, went inside and when I came to move the Cav into the shed it wouldn't start, alternator maybe? Weird though. I need to try and make some money back off it now. Loved it.James McGrath wrote:What happened to the Cav?

If it hasn't got any serious rust then just sell it intact.
Looking the way it does it's bound to make more money than most

Not trying to put you off... Think I just got a bad egg... Before it went wrong I absolutely loved being in it!!! The power was insane and was standard 150bhp...markrobertyeo wrote:Oh that fills me with loads of hope!Hayward691 wrote:I went to VAG... Got a Passat Estate 1.8 20v Turbo... Awesome car!!!

I'm sure you could renew all the brakes and the hoses for less than £200 easy.

If somebody came up with near enough the same amount that I could make off the wheels, sound system etc then I'd much prefer to see it maintained.
I needed a diesel for the mileage I do you see!

You could always return it to standard selling off things like the wheels and stereo as you go. At least that way it won't be another Cav gone forever.

Re: Cavalier replacement, it has finally given up.
I had a battery drain problem with my tdi bora sport I bought a new battery and it solved problem for a bit then it came back.
I replaced the alternator and the problem went it turns out its a resistor in the alternator that goes if you go out to your car when its stone cold and feel alternator if its warm its that its the same for the starter too.
Also the standard vag sterio will drain the battery just a few common ploblems but easy to fix I hate to admit it but I love the car its comfy to drive never lets me down and good mpg as a every day car you cant beat it and they look good it helps to carry a spare 109 relay in it too as they are common things to randomly go.
It will refuse to start it will crank and crank over but not start so check that.
