I got the car towed back to a friends house, I had no room. The running problem was the in-tank fuel pump £29 later and the car was running.

Started to clean up really nice, Only lacquer peel is on the boot and a small patch on the o/s front wing. Only thing on the car not working was the heater, £25 used heater blower motor and that was sorted.

Next day, I took the car to the local garage, basically to see what was needed for the mot. I was expecting a few 100 quids worth of suspension stuff and maybe some welding because these car's do like to rust just like our lovely Cavaliers.

I was very shocked indeed, No welding needed at all and looks to have never seen any, suspension nope nothing needed here..
Brakes looked to have been renewed before the car was taken off the road and the tyres all had good amount of tread left. So i decided to clean the underside (webs/chicken feathers etc) Strip and clean the discs/pads and chuck it in for the MOT only 4 days! after buying the car and spending around £60

The 28th came and we had a pass.. :o Insured the car for £112 with footman James, Cheaper than both my Cavaliers. I've been running the car a few weeks now and found a few more things that want sorting.

First off is the car seems to lack power under 3000 RPM, A quick search online and it seems my car has the M50B20TU engine which means the car has a Vanos unit :scratch

2nd thing is the Tyres, The ones on there are are so bad in the wet weather its scary, I have just got a set of used but plenty of tread 6mm+ Bridgestone turanza er300s. 225/60/15

3rd thing is the Clutch slave cylinder has started to leak, New one has been ordered £27 eBay jobby.

I'm in the middle of sorted out the Vanos Unit at the moment, which means new seals/Anti rattle ring kit, £29 plus the cost of the Vanos timing tool which was £37/ Gaskets £38.

Future plans for the BMW are: Refurbish the alloys & Get the boot and o/s wing painted. Just enjoy it. :thumb

Thanks for looking :p

That's a big old barge - and it cleaned up really well! Glad to hear you got it running with minimal fuss - if only all cars were like that!

Looks like a great find there, cleaned up wonderfully.
I may have to visit this farm one day, seems to be full of hidden gems.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the E34.
Enjoy the inline 6 cylinder perfection! :thumb

Came up nice after that wash. You're having a stroke of luck with these barn finds! Might need to visit there one day for a non rusty barn find!
