Lowered springs fitted.
Image

New 308mm discs and pads fitted.
Image

Tow bar from Vaux.
Image

Car striped to fit tow bar. After fitting the car had to get tech2 to get the wiring kit to work.

The car after fitting the springs and mud flaps to the front and back.

Also fitted brighter blubs to the head lamps and cleaned out the EGR valve.

Doing that lot kept me busy for a couple of days.

Thanks!!!

The engine in the car is the 1.9 16v diesel (150bhp) Other plans I have are to 'box' the engine. Get wheel repainted that I got off ebay (a 5th one for a spair) along with the front bumper to get rid of a few marks on them. Fit a white line RARB.

The Mk3 was sold not long after that pic was taken. Once I got new plates made for the car after the DVLA gave me a new number for it.
My sons name is Declan so he will be getting the 'dec' plate when he has his own car.

Well I can say having it lowered and it on 18" wheels, dose make for a bit of a bumpy ride. On the good side tho it handles very well.

Jobs done on the Astra last week were. New flywheel fitted by Vauxhall  at only 22000 miles on the car, but payed for by Vaux.
At weekend I gave it an oil change and a new tyre for my 5th alloy wheel. Cost me £135 for it tho.

And got new speakers delivered. Ill get them fitted next time im back home.

When I had the door cards off I fitted some sound deading to the inside. I used bitchmen flashing tape to do it. So now when you tap the door it sounds solid.

Yes its the crossover. The red and black wire that goes off the side of the pic goes to the tweeter.

Really does look purposeful with the kit and bits on it.

You say it had a new clutch at 22k, some of the dual mass flywheels were notorious for going, especially those 1.9's and even more so ones with tuning boxes fitted. Is it a 120 or 150 bhp 1.9? Plenty of tuning potential and now theres a kit to fix the dual mass flywheel problems.

1.9 16Valve is the 150...

Notorious for loads of faults... especially on the Vectra-C (which we have).

EGR Valve, Swirl valves, No.3 Injector, clogged Diesel Particulate filters (where fitted) -

Dual mass flywheels ... just don't go there :wall

On the good side... they packs some crazy torque. :cool

Yup really nice looking Astra....

I recommend investing in an Op-Com... will save you a fortune in Tech 2 bills.

The 1.9 CDTI in silver lettering is the 120bhp version.
The 1.9 CDTI with the TI in red lettering is the 150bhp version.

Virtually identical, just mapped slightly differently and different gearboxes IIRC from my time at the E.Port plant.

Been a long time since ive posted on the site, Just thought I let you know what ive been up to. The Astra is a bit poorly and the Cav is fine.

First off the Cav got chucked out of the garage :cry

but it had to as the Astra needed in. This is how it ended up after a few hours with the spaners.

Image

and this is why it all got stripped down.

Image

also gutted out the first cat, as it was so easy to get to after taking all the other bits off.

Image

Im also changing the flywheel and clutch bits, but still waiting on them coming.

The gearbox got new bearings, seals and shims. Its was whining like mad in 6th gear. cost £760 to get it fixed.

I got told a new box is £2500, a lot of money. For a gearbox made from chease. :o

i ordered a recon one from vauxhall was supposed to be around £1500 mark but they only had brand new in stock so delivered one of those for the same price, i believe it was nearly 3k for a brand new one!

Strange thing was mine didnt whine much just made a knocking like noise and had no movement on the stick but apparently was beyond repair when they (as autocare) opened it up

Thats good getting a new box for the price of a recon one. Mine should be as good as new now after the work thats gone in to it.

In my car there was a little bit of whining when in 6th, you could hear the diffrence when lifting your foot off the throtle then putting it back down again. It was like that for about a year, then in the last few weeks it got much louder and was heard in other gears too. The stick never moved tho. Also the flywheel has been starting to knock when at idle with the clutch pressed down.

My new flywheel and clutch kit should be here by the end of the week. So Ill get it all fitted back together at the weekend.

Been the first repair ive has with the car, only other things have been tyres, brakes ,etc and mods.
