As for the leak check the petrol pipe as it goes inside the car, RH rear light out should see it then, They rot around there like some Cavaliers do.

One more job off the tick list.

Is it red like the car, or are you going for the VW Harlequin look.
Still - that little pocket rocket just keeps on going :)

Yeah, I've checked most of the car over - it has the odd rot patch that needs to be addressed - but I'll look over the fuel filler neck again.

Nope, no even remotely close to red. Star Silver 2.
But yeah, still running. :geek:

All good though.

So - what jobs are still on the list?
Did that exhaust ever get sorted - badly fitting pattern parts weren't it?

The exhaust is mostly sorted, blowing a little but not excessively.

There is a focus that goes around here, and the entire front end is a different colour. (Bumper, bonnet, wings)

I think that back end is green and the front is white.

Well, slowly bit by bit the corsa is changing.
The weekend saw it loose the drivers seat, get hoovered out a bit then get a replacement seat from a 3 door.

Can't complain too much though, nice and comfy again :)

Woohoo - I love engine rebuilds.
And you can't get much easier than a Vauxhall engine. :)

Good to see some progress being made :)

Well, started cleaning up the head this evening.
Willl get the valves out tomorrow, get them lapped back in (hopefully) and start building it back up over the weekend whilst I am on call (since I can't venture too far).

I presume no issues with smoking?

Why the rebuild?

Replacement engine, or a duff gasket?

If you are struggling for time due to work and other projects / commitments, I can't see you stripping the head just for shits n giggles.

Ignore that - I just re-read an earlier post. - d'oh!!
It's a spare astra head.

More power. Trying to make time, there is no rushing as its spare kit.

Nice new shiney (refurbed) calipers picked up this morning. 87quid's worth :/

Hope the difference is notable.

So gave the head another half hours scrubbing, removed the rest of the studs from the exhaust side, rotated the head and left it to steep again.

Rather sad that this is the most time i have put into the car for months...

But liking how the head is starting to clean up.

I never understand people with time issues. I generally work 6 to 7 days a week and still get stuff done. Even manage to spend time with gf. Mind you I'm on the go 6am to 10pm every day, hate sitting down

Just let it soak

Just generally the way life is. Work has to come first at the minute.
Not so bad if you have a garage to work in, with power / light. But I don't.

Petrol is expensive though not as expensive as Gunk when you think about it. I know what you mean about it working well.

Like you say, leaving it to soak is doing the job for me mostly :)
Just go in and give it a little fettle for a half hour, rotate and add something else to the mix.

Topped it off with more Gunk tonight - bugger..

Oh well - I should probably drop the valves out before it gets dark. See how I get on after tea.

Don't tell the woman of the house but a good 90 degree wash in the dishwasher makes most stuff come up a treat.

40 degree wash for plastic lenses and trim pieces. :cool

Just be careful to give the dishwasher a good clean out when you're done.
Nothing worse than eating your sunday roast off a plate tasting of old engine oil. :?

Lucky for me, I do all the domestic chores in our house, so the missus is never the wiser ;)
