Electroylisis is a good way of cleaning these objects. Works really well and is cheap. Rust falls of leaving a great base to prime

Yeah, probably the best £25 I've spent in the past 4 years if I'm honest.

As for Electrolisys, I'd love to give it a blast, but I don't have the bits needed to start it off, so would have to cough up some wedge to start with :(

Well, the Corsa recently got some new shoes by way of the Astra going to die (it was a sad day and the send off was beatiful - ie, the scrap merchant through the cat into his cabin for it to hit the seat and bounce out via his windscreen - I don't remember EVER laughing so hard).

So, Corsa now has 15" Corsa SXI boots, and pulls left and right under heavy breaking... discs are like vinyl records.. so today. they are being changed (and upgraded) from solid 236 to vented 256 (along with calipers).

Well, this is rather embarressing, bought some discs and pads without looking off a mate, who swore blind they were 256mm - well stripped the front brakes down, cleaned up a spare set of calipers and carriers I picked up from UPullit yesterday (issue with the calipers I was refurbing).

Anyhow, long story shot - I've been sold vented 236mm discs - no good to me, I have single vented calipers and carriers for 236mm discs, or vented 256mm calipers and carriers..

So, rather than just boxing everythingback up, cleaned up the calipers, carriers and discs, fitted the new pads. Still bedding in, but alot better than before.

So, following on from that, when I was test driving the car - got cut up by some bint in an Audi, and embarressed myself with sounding the horn, came home and reclaimed the horns off the Cav and set to swapping them over.

Sounds much better now.. :thumb

Well the exhaust decided it didn't want to be attached from the cat back last night. After a failed attempt to re-attach it. I ordered a replacement for the princely sum of £30. Cheap pattern part, but hopefully it will do the job for now.

So.. after last weeks fiasco with the Exhaust departing, that got repaired last Sunday - and I have to say - Pattern exhausts for the Corsa are crap! I've had 2 on since Sunday any neither have the right bends to clear the rear axle properly!

Anyhow, yesterday, I went and purchased a couple of Powerflex exhaust hangers, need a couple more, but going to have to wait for now - which will hopefully pull the exhaust up around 0.5-1 inch to give some clearance - which may result in the rear bumper needing to be cut.

However, also on my test drive after replacing the exhaust - I went to pick up a set of rear Corsa Sport seats (Silly money, gave £1.20 on eBay for them :D) so including picking them up. I probably still have change out of £6 :D

Last night, was bored so with the help of young JC, set about fitting the seats - going from a horrible full rear bench to a nice 60/40 split rear bench :) Cheap mods - I like that :)

So, in desperate need of tyres, so I found a set on the bay with alloys... from a Rover.. I do wish I'd researched more.. as the wheel bore is 0.5 mim too small :(

So, tyres need to be swapped over.

Most likely 256mm discs. Would need to look at them. Personally, I would just measure them :)

Should bolt onto the blue cav nicely :)

We'll see.

The Corsa is suprisingly nippy for what it is.
Nice little runner really, although you suite a Cavalier much better.

So, picked up a 1.4 Tigra the other week, purely to break, so the Corsa will be getting some upgrades in the near future..

What's happened recently:

Tigra is broken into bits, engine box shafts and loom are almost ready to fit
Exhaust has been replaced with a genuine one, no more rattles and bangs.

Is there much difference between the Corsa engine and the Tigra item?
i am being a bit thick probably, but just noticed that they are both 1.4's

You should be a dab-hand at engine transplants... this must be your third that I know of.
Looking forward to the pictures...

Good to know that the Corsa finally conceeded defeat and let your fit the exhaust successfully. :thumb

Well, you see it was more me giving in to the Corsa and shelling out for the genuine part lol..

Corsa currently has a 8v Hitorq version.. Tigra has the 16v version :) I may regret it, I don't yet know.

So, what has happened recently,

Well, I finally got sick of the exhaust rattling (even with a genuine exhaust) so I stumped up the £30 Vauxhall wanted for the correct rubbers, and I can tell you, they are HALF the size of the motor factor shite!

This raised the exhaust up a good inch, to inch and a half - no more clattering. (A mate fitted them, couldn't get the car high enough to get all the way under lol..)
New set of plugs, and leads (what is wrong with bosch kit these days, just seems to forever break inside of a year!)

Fitted remote locking, and a new drivers door motor.. :thumb what a chew on that motor was!
May do a basic service before taking the blighter to Billing.

However, due to a lack of parts and interest this afternoon, one thing that has always bugged me is the fact there has been no rear speakers! Well, no more!

Brackets for speakers (yes, brackets to put your speakers in!) cost me a tenner with standard speakers fitted - butthey weren't good enough so I dug out the JVC's I bought for the cav before I took it off the road (never got round to fitting them) and modified the brackets slightly to the would fit :)

Much better now :)

Well, not being the type to cut up wiring where ever possible I made some adapters using old bust up speakers and the wiring that came with the speakers.

Soldering irons and hot glue guns are epic :D

So firstly my adapter(s)

Image

Well, speakers are a little different. The JVC's are heavier built and the brackets are thicker so, it wont' fit straight into the brackets.

So I modified it..

All bolted up to the parcel shelf holders ready to reinstall.

Well today, after being in the family for 8 years I finally removed the dented and battered tailgate and replaced it with a salvaged item..

What a chew on, as the corsa was shunted long before I owned it, I hadnt' actually realised how bent the back end was till today.
:wall

Still, results are rather worth it. As the old tailgate came off, looked further into a leak issue I've had and all the sealant had dried out and cracked along the roof lines - so dug all of that out and sikaflexed it.
