My other car #2, Lotus Esprit SE.

Post by DiplomaXE »

Had this 8 years and it follows a Lotus Excel SE and a Lotus 7 replica before that. I haven't been without a Lotus since I was in my Apprenticeship - Both Excel (sorely missed, sob sob) and Esprit together (during filming for a DVD about Lotus ownership btw) - sold Excel that day..

Esprit built in 89, but 1990 car, ex Earls Court display, built for the October 89 Motorfair -

here it is in 89, taken by a nice chap that seems to have enjoyed taking Motorfair pics through the years and sent these to me, top man -

Always wanted one, it had to be silver, it's taking some time off at the mo, while I play with the Monaro. Currently catching up on some maintenance/modifications to it.

Has had many detailed modifications, including a huge AP racing brake upgrade (common theme to with my cars it seems), ceramic bearing Hybrid turbo, tweek here, tweek there. They take some looking after mind.
It's awesome, very rapid and stops and handles so well. Needs treating with respect though.

Hope you like.

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

they do indeed fella, it has new ones on it from the Lotus parts sell off. they were cheaper than Toyota ones.
it's got Maestro VDP/Metrocab electric window switches too..
other parts bin stuff are -

Renault Espace v6 gearbox and wheel nuts/rear bearings,
Pug 205 PCV valve,
Herald/spitfire front balljoints/column bushes,
Ford roll bar bushes,
Std ones have crappy melted Supra front brakes, espace rear ones,
Marina/LR Discovery door handles,
BL/Sherpa van stalks,
MGB internal handles,
Citroen AX sunroof fittings,
GM delco yank people carrier engine management/coils/ecu.sensors etc,
did have rusty land rover side repeaters as std before I lobbed em,

and loads of others.

this might sound like a mare to some, but for me is one of the attractions of the Marque. scrapyard visits are usually very fruitful. its the Lotus only produced parts that can get rare and tricky to obtain.

saying all that, and AE86 corolla aint a car I have ever seen in a scrappy, although most that aren't saved for drifting have rusted away long ago. I had an AE82 FWD rev monster, was a superb car.
