1989 Granada on 43,000 miles

Post by N-Dog »

Spotted this MINT Ford Granada 2.5 TurboDiesel GL in Cromer today, MOT history shows the mileage as a little over 43,000. It looked absolutely immaculate. I wonder what MPG it returns? I bet it could do with a good blow-out!

I am not a fan of this model of Granny, but you cannot knock it for condition.
That does look immaculate.

Grey does seem an odd colour choice.
Maybe the owner is an ex-Navy person, so feels at home in any vessel painted battle-ship grey.

Perhaps the colour hasn't come out properly on my photo... the car is in fact a sort of metallic champagne colour and looked much nicer in the flesh.

If it was nicer in the flesh, then it must have been stunning.

Thanks for sharing.

You can see it's similarities to it's smaller brother, the early Mondeo. Especially that front end / headlamps.
A blast from the past.

Nice!
I quite like the colour, mind you, I do feel at home arround battleships!

Anyone know anything about that engine? Not allot of info online.

Would it be one shared with the Transit of the same time?

I know both vehicles had the 2.5 diesel in the late 1990s.
The transit was an in-house unit... not sure about the Granny engine.

Smaller diesel engines were usually the noisy Peugeot power-plants.

When I get chance, I will reinstall Auto-Data v3.45 on my laptop, as that will give engine codes and other useful info about the Ford diesel engine fitted to this car and to transits, for completeness.

But alas that will not be for a few weeks.
I will update, when I find the information you desire.

Minor Update.
It would appear that there are several different 2.5 diesel engines fitted to the Granada and Transit between 1985 and 1994. (Turbo and non-turbo).

So finding the exact spec could be more challenging than I first thought.
