Post by Cavy96 »

Thinking of purchasing a set of bola b10’s .. 17 7.5j offset is ET40 and thinking of fitting 205/40/17 tyres, question is will will this set up fit without any issues last thing I want is my arches getting shot due to rubbing.. cars a mk3 cav Sri lowered 35mm.

Is that an SRi lowered by an additional 35mm,
Or
the standard 30 / 40mm SRi lowered springs.?

I've got the same setup on my cdx (only car) with standard 195/60/15 rubber.
Compared to my previous (totally standard) sri the ride is not as harsh but steering is still responsive.

What exactly do you want from this car?
I only ask because you seem to be leaning towards an uncomfortable a ride as possible, among other things. Track car maybe?

You might want to consider some other downsides.

Speedometer & mileage readings may be inaccurate and acceleration will be slower and, more importantly, there will be much more strain on steering components.
I fitted 205's to my manta, went through 2 steering racks :o

The bigger alloys are also heavier so will take longer to brake.
Acceleration will also be slower due to diameter.
Bigger wheels, unless you get it exact = higher top speed but lower acceleration

To be honest the car isn’t a daily ride so drivability isn’t really a big issue, I hear what you’re saying about the downsides and understand what’ll happen with bigger wheels etc, the car only gets used in good weather and going to shows etc so for me looks is more important than drivability to be fair, just need more info on acceptable offsets etc on 17in rims.. cheers
