Supertouring alloy fitment problem.

Post by Lowrider Dave »

Alloys: Supertouring alloys 7Jx16
Tyres: 205/55/16

Okay, so the V6 is back on the road, I had a set of supertouring alloys which I had shot blasted and powdercoated (£322). I got them shod with new Bridgestone tyres (£314).
Now I come to check everything I find the front tyres now rub the suspension strut! It is clear that this cannot be altered by putting a different tyre on, is 7J too wide for Cavs? Tyre places suggested 5mm spacers and rolling the arches. Don't want to roll the arches.

7j is not to wide at all buddy

my cav runs 8j 18s and they dont touch/rub the front struts and they are et49 offsett

i know there are folk on here running the ST rims

are the rims et49? a spacer could solve it
My valver brings all the boys to the yard, dam right its cammed and carbed, dam right it pops and farts, I would show you but the fuker won't start!

Yes they are et49s. They are genuine vx supertourers. I am considering selling.

The tyre place that I use had no other tyres in they thought could possibly help. I'm at a bit of a loss why they don't fit, and annoyed at having spent so much.

Okay. Not keen on spacers so will try a tyre change to experiment.

Despite the tyre fitters being sceptical, I got them to fit 205/45/16 on the alloys today and they fitted with clearance - they were all surprised. I was, however, very pleased that at long last I had my alloys on. Now to add a few bits on and give her a good wash then see about booking it in for welding/stainless exhaust.

Yarp!

Now to a get a stainless exhaust on it and work out what that metallic clanking noise from the belt area is!
