Engine light comes on when adding acceleration. New member

Hi all, I'm new here and just purchased a gsi2000 1991. The car drives really nice but when I'm on the motorway and increase my speed the engine light comes on. When I slow down or remain at the new speed for a while the light goes off. Any help appreciated thanks

Its a dodgy o2 sensor they all do it sometimes mine include. But check it with the paper cliptest its on here ,use the search function

As mitch said bud. paoerclip test is the best way to test your issue.

saves pissing in the wind and changing bits your not 100% on.

I don't undersand the paper clip test as in the 12 flashes and so on

it will flash once, pause then flash twice, thats code 12, this just means the start of the test buddy

make sure the car is running when you do this or it will flash out code 31, 3 flashes, a pause, then one flash, this is crank sensor but it will show this if the car is not running anyway

it might take a few trys but is a prity simple way of checking whats making the management light come on.

as said it prob will be the lambda but its could be a numberof things so your better checking before forking out of any parts

Ok so did the test and it gave me 13 which is the oxy sensor. Got one on its way thanks to cavalier-c20let (sorry forgot name) and a few other bits.
