Izuzu Td Clutch slipping

Post by 3.0cav.v6 »

Ok so i got my TD Saloon a couple of weeks back now and noticed the clutch was slipping on the drive back home which was the worst job i wanted to have to do :wall

Today is the first chance i have had to sort of make a start on it and have a look due to other ongoing projects im doing at the moment

After disconnecting stuff up top like speedo and linkage i jacked the car up and took wheel off and had a look underneath when i looked i was overwhelmed with joy to see all the oil on the bell housing and the crud catcher cover :sick

I took the cover off for a better look and it has all engine oil on the inside and thick greasy oil on the back of the fly wheel :cry

So am i looking at a very big even worse job to have to do now then has anyone had any experience of this and what will i need to do is it the crank shaft oil seal that is leaking or something do you think and running onto the clutch causing it to slip :?:

Yep it happens, change the clutch and the seal (use the old one to use as a drift to knock the new one in)

It's not to bad a job to be fair.
also check for any kind of oil leak on the engine side of the flywheel while your there as flywheel can be removed and the seal replaced.

you will need to remove the gearbox presuming you have done this already unless u have access cover to the clutch. you will need to lock the flywheel to undo the bolts unless u have air gun. Once the flywheel is removed the seal can be removed by screwing a screw into it

Ah rite sound so not as bad as a job as i thought then i was thinking i would have to loosen the crank or something to get the seal out :thumb
