Oil sump change nd gasket help needed

Post by Ricky180b »

Hi all I'm changing my sump as its got a crack. I've got a new sump but I need advise on the best way to do this and have no more leaks. So far I've been told to get a baffle plate gasket from vauxhall for a c20ne 8 valve engine nd vauxhall sump sealant. Can anyone please shed more light thanks

Also I've been told that if I use the new baffle plate it only has one rubber seal on it. That's all I need no other gaskets butto change the bots to 20 mm. Do I still need to use the sealant and could some please give me te torque number settings for the wrench please

I'd use the sealant, and let it set for 8hrs before putting oil in as that's what we did in the dealers. Can't remember torque figures though, just nipped.

Don't bother with sealant on the 20ne baffle plate pal. Make sure you get shortened bolts

What engine are we talking about? XE? LET? Either way make sure you drop the oil before you begin

XE then. Yes the 8v is a single piece baffle/rubber seal whereas the original items for a LET/XE are multi-piece and difficult to line up. I think you have to bend / remove a bit of the 8v baffle though to stop it fouling the pick up pipe.

baffle only needs to bent if the xe has a late chunky crank fitted
