Post by Chally2012 »

Hi really stuck at the moment I put a post on some months ago regarding my problems I have been suffering since the rebuild of my 20xe engine.Right the problem is basically the engine runs brilliant no miss fire etc apart from it overheats, temp just goes up and up to point where I have turn it off.theres a new rad after market one ebay 27 pound job could it be rad,I have put 2 different thermostats in thers a new water pump in,also I have taken water pump off again last night thinking this could be the problem also someone mentioned he took his off before and was broken and it was new,so out of piece of mind done this. When the cars running parts of rad are cold also big rad pipe which goes from plastic pipe to rad half warm half cold bud took top rad hose off before it hoes into thermostat and water is warm, expansion bottle has warm water in too well quite hot to be fair, also I have a new rad switch on and temp sensor and coolant sensor and fan is working when I do the cross wire test thing I was told to do but doesn't when engine tucking over even when temp reading in red I am at a loss now to the point where I feel am going to scrap it lol spent loads on this car with rebuild etc really needed to be getting on with body work now but feel I can't till this is sorted any help is really apreciated thanks.john

Take the rad of and stick a hose pipe in the bottom right outlet. See if you can back wash some of the shit out.
What are the syptoms of overheating, water boiling over, stat not opening?
I have known temp gauges go faulty when cars not been used for a long periods

The radiator is brand new cheap one mind and temp sensor new well everything is new every sensor possible the heads been over hauled to stem seals etc I looked again last night and can see where I have put the core plugs in a little bit of rust left behind from like water has been seeping out at some point but looks sealed now no obvious leak there now but makes me think if the core plugs have anything to do with it.does anyone think the head be the problem it has been skimmed etc but I used an original standard head gasket could this be my problem?do you need to use a thicker gasket ?not sure while all the belts are off whether to take the head back off?

Sorry water is not boiling that's the wierd thing but rad is defo not hot but but water is warm not boiling in coolant bottle which I think is why fan ain't kicking in cus water in rad ain't hot enough but touch the head it's hot also changed stat second one now and took stat out and still goes into red.
