one tooth out it run rough on tick over, two teeth out may be catching valves and knock sensor may not work if out of line. round tooth belts can slip a tooth.

wow thats loud  reminds me a bit of my old Citroen ZX, it had a timing belt problem, and when i started it up in the morning, it sounded like a crowd of people were hurtling pebbles against a sheet of metal under the bonnet. Easiest way to describe it lol. It sounded perfect when it warmed up though. :D

Abit of news for ya, i spoke to a bloke who knew a bloke who use to own the cavalier i now own and he said the person i bought it from, (are you with me :D ) put and run it with diesel in, hence why i had to put a new fuel pump on it. Is there a chance the injectors are shot? or would abit of cleaner sort her out?

Also the ecu has been chipped apperently, wont no that until we get her dyno'd, watch this space

I doubt the diesel would damage/block the injectors, i think it would only affect the pump and filter. A quick shot of petrol fuel treatment sounds like a good idea though just in case

The car is at a stand still at the mo as the head gasket on the wifes vectra has blown and well, ive got my orders so in the process of stripping that.

Im gonna check the timing again when i get back on it, hopefully next week. As for work on the car, its had new fuel hoses, pump and timing belt. Ill chuck some cleaner down it and we'l go from there..

ALL WAYS THE CASE THAT IF BELT BEEN DONE RECENTLY HAVE A LOOK AGAIN. IF NOT DONE RIGHT MORE LIKELY TO SLIP ON START UP WHEN BELT IS AT ITS TIGHTEST. ONCE RUNNING THERE IS LESS TENSION ON IT. EASY JOB TO CHECK AN EXSPENSIVE ONE TO FIX IF VALVES ARE BENT OF HEAD FE@KED

Good news chaps..........

I double checked the timing and exhaust cam was out a tooth, i retensioned the belt spun her over by hand twice and went for it, started her up and to my surprise, silence, it was purring, like it should, the only thing giving my grief now is the back box is knackerd and it sounds awful, so next step exhaust.

Big thanks to all who took the time to check my video out and for passing on your comments and advice, you've made me very happy indeed :D :P :p :D :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
