Hi mate the window switches are timed. but sometimes they go fualty and dont turn off. Lock the car and go back an hour later, see if they are still on. if so then try a different set.

The window switches need to see an earth from the drivers door courtesy switch before they disarm. It has a switch with two wires, one feeds the light, the other the window switches. They have no timer and will stay on until the battery goes flat if they don't see the earth as you open the door to get out.

they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Thanks, So what i'll do is pull the switch out on the drivers door and check the 2 wires (the one thats the earth). Might be dirty. If the wire is ok then should i give it a new earth wire from the chasis.

Sorry im about 10 years out of a vauxhall so this is all new to me whats the icv is it idle control valve and where would it be located and pics would be great. What happens is it idles at 1000 and some times as im slowing down to stop the rev counter stays near 2000 for about 5 secs then to 1500 then slowly down to 1000 rather than straight down to 1000.

Thanks

The window switch lights should go out after some time,i had this same problem years back took me ages to find the problem. What i found was that when i took out the drivers seat and lifted the carpet there was 2 wires that had rotted so i stuck in a new part of wire and all was fixed :) so worth a look under the seat and check all the wires hope this helps as it did for me.

The courtesy switch supplies the path to earth through its mounting to the body. The two wires go to the interior light and to the window switches. If this wire is disconnected, or as someone else has suggested above, damaged, the window switches don't see the door open and therefore stay powered up.
