pinking

my car seems to have developed pinking the last couple of days ...seems to pink when i change gear a little ....then stop doing it for a while then pink when it wants again ...any ideas of the cause ? my car is 2.0 ltr 16v ecotec cav

cheap petrol, timing, knock sensor?

mmmm i use shell petrol and have had the timing checked gaz so i think i mite change the knock sensor cheers mate

well, the knock sensor is supposed to stop pinking on the whole. so I guess that would be a good place to start.
Ofcourse, if it only does short miles, it could be a build up of carbon - I'm currently debating weather I need to whip the head off mine and give it a could scrub down.
