on the past 3 MOTs they all said play in the rear passanger wheel bearing so I thought nothing of it but been driving about a lot and wile in traffic noticed high squealing when windows down but just thought ahh someone needs to get there brakes sorted and went about my drive.. sat night I was driving down country roads n pulled over to use the phone and did both windows down. finished me call and set off but as I did noticed the squeal. oh god. it was constant from crawl to fast drive. decided to have it looked at wile about today and yes its the bearing I just said give us a price so he looked for a bearing and said HOW MUCH! I was thinking 30 max. £120 cos its ABS what the hell? I said ill get back to you and went round every garage getting quotes and the cheapest I could find was just over £110. not happy. other than that my car is running perfect. must of needed a day or two to get the ecu and engine running right after running rich for as long as I can remember cos shes spot on now n idles great. even better than when I got it back!

been to the body shop today and booked her in for the doglegs to be sanded and re sprayed cos they got bits of rust and i cant be doing with that. cars going in tomor morning to replace the bearing unit cos got told the wheel could come off by 3 garages so best get it sorted really

my fuel consumption has halved so that's great too. ah what a good day. 120 out of pocket but its a nice day and ive been everywhere in the cav. good stuff

For the front:

It's about 35 quid for a decent bearing.
It's not a big job, but its time consuming.
Leg has to be stripped off - about 30-45 minutes if everything goes alright.
Then you have to get the old bearing out (break out the press) then press in a new bearing.

Then reassemble.

I've seen them take 3-4 hours before.
Hopefully you haven't ovalled the leg out or you're really screwed.

For the rear - It's about £50 for the rear bearing unit itself. Of if its the stub axle about £17 a side for replacement bearings.
About an hour to swap it over. Seen it take longer though.

Had it done yesterday. Was the rear o/s they called late and said could I bring it in. They took ages so guessing something was fooked. The garage cleaned out both rear break drums too cos they was sticking the odd time and rubbing. It cost 117 for the hub replacement. That's the price it was everywhere cos of labour. They cleaned breaks for free tho so that's good. Hopefully won't be spending anything on her for a wile now. Apart from spraying dog legs but that's ergent to me as it's body
