Re: Auto box AF20 oil renewal help needed
Just out of interest, the car has only done 55,000 the oil on the dip stick is still light in colour (can see the min/max marks clear) is it worth changing only reason being the flashing S Is not gone after even cleaning the grease out and shining up the contacts pins, but it's still driving, so when is it that the oil should be Changed ? When it's darker in colour or any other ways to find out, thanks

1. How do I take the current oil out?
There is a drain plug on the rear right-hand side of the transmission. Use a new washer and dispose of fluid properly - not down a drain!
2. How much oil does the box take?
3 to 3.5L
3. How to refill the oil is there a refill hole located on the box?
Pour it in down the dipstick tube located on the front of the transmission casing. Use a funnel.
4. What type of oil to use I mean what grade or quality?
Dexron II type ATFi
All information can be found in the standard Haynes manual for the Cavalier.

Re: Auto box AF20 oil renewal help needed
It should be on the bottom of the casing, as to it's correct location or size, I don't know as I've never done a transmission fluid swap before.
Re: Auto box AF20 oil renewal help needed
Just wondering I read up somewhere that the vectra b AF20 box has 7 litres of oil but only 3/3.5 litres is removed per oil change and the rest will be in the torque converter will be the same issue with the cavalier ? So will I need to do 2 oil changes ?
