Rear wheel bearing

Post by Mk3alan »

Well it failed! On rear wheel bearing, I think this guy must be super fussy. I have had bearings fail and there was no doubt whatsoever that there was a problem.
I dismantled the bearing and surfaces look good. I also dismantled the other side, and washed old grease out re greased and reassembled and bearings are quieter than the failed one but I do think he's been very picky.
New Koyo bearings on the way which should please Mr not man!

Hmm - He probably felt that because it isn't a new car, then it shouldn't pass.
It might make him look too lenient or lax if it did pass.

Most MOT testers tend to be too harsh, rather than following the correct procedural flow charts and tolerances for various vehicles and configurations.

Either that or he didn't get it wet the night before.

Strange, or annoying!
I shall show him my 'failed' bearings when I go back.
Haven't been to this place before but my normal centre was fully booked and I wanted to get it tested that day.
