Engine oil.

Post by 3cav3 »

When I used to run my Cav's years ago I used to always put good quality 20/50 in them , due to them having high miles on them. I'm not a great fan of synthetics on older vehicles, but was wondering what grade oil you would recommend on a 51k 2.0 and a 56k 1.8?

I use a 10/40 or 15/40 in my CD and change it frequently, runs lovely and never burns a drop!

Thanks for that, I've got quite a few gallons at work of 15/40 so I will use that till it runs out, then probably switch to the Vauxhall stuff. I used to always change my oil at 5k, however I'll be doing it at least once year which will probably be more like every 3k.
Does the 1.8 use the same filter as the 2.0? I only ask as I've recently bought a job lot of them.

From memory, yes, it will be the same screw-on type canister filter.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...
