cavalier gsi 4x4 propshaft carriers/bearings

Post by fub »

Hi all,
could someone please advise me where I could get replacement prop shaft carrier bearings that hold the prop to the underside of the car and also if the prop cv joint end cap is available anywhere,
thanks in advance

Hi Fub,

I have looked in all of the "usual" places, but simply cannot find any of your parts anywhere.

All I can suggest is that if you have any old parts, that you try to get them refurbished.

Brackets and caps - dipped, shot blasted degreased and re-plated.
Such as bright zinc plated.
As for the bearings themselves - there are plenty of bearing specialists out there that may be able to supply a suitable bearing to the same dimensions.

Then there should be plenty of engineering firms that can press the bearings out and in to the carriers for you.

The good news is the carlton and omega bearing carriers are still available and with only a little modification they fit.
the actual prop bearings are also available still and they are the same bearing for cav, carlton and omega.

I bought some earlier in the year for the turbo, but the mechanic wasn't impressed - even when I told him some modifications were needed; I think he was having his manly periods!!!

Then he tried to charge me for the parts I supplied...
