c20xe into 8v cavalier sri

Post by gwp1986 »

Hi i have just bought a c20xe engine to put into my 8v cavalier sri, i have got a loom and ecu with it but just wondering has anyone done this before, and what should i look out of and what problems will i encounter, i am told the car it came out of before had a seperate immobiliser so this new ecu should still work with my key, any help appreciated :)

I have done a C18NZ to C20NE conversion.
Very easy indeed.

You will need a multi-point injection fuel pump if going from a single point injector set up.
The SPi pumps simply do not have enough oomph to run a 2 litre engine.

So in simple terms if you have a 2 litre 8 valve, then the existing fuel pump should be fine.

If going from 1.8 or smaller, then you will need to change the fuel pump.

I will provide a link about my conversion.
It covers most aspects including fitment, parts and advising the DVLA / insurance companies.

SPi to MPi conversion.

I believe the 16V subframe is the boxed in type as opposed to the open U-shaped type fitted to most 8V cars.
