Hi all!
Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself to the group.
Also, try and put a 100% answer to my question. Is this dizzy cap kaput? Some people telling me it's fine and some people telling me it's no good.
Any help appreciated.
Dizzy cap
Re: Dizzy cap
Hi Dan,
Welcome to the forum,
I cannot see any images / pictures, so I cannot offer a 100% accurate opinion.
If there is any dirt or moisture, then give the cap a good clean.
If the internal contacts are crusty or deeply burnt, then I would replace it with a new one.
It might be worth looking at the condition of the rotor arm too.
If all they need is a very light clean with some wire wool or fine emery cloth, then they could probably be refitted.
-------------------------------------
What ignition / engine set-up do you have.?
The usual weak spot is the H T leads, rather than the distributor or rotor.

As a separate comment.
Take a look inside the exterior terminals of the distributor cap.
There are two main types of connector.
Some are just a socket,
And some have a socket with a brass stud / screw thread inside.
Which ever you have,
you need to ensure that any parts you replace,
will match any parts that you don't.
(Dizzy cap, H T leads etc)
