Technical Safety Bulletins - Discussion

Post by Robsey »

This topic is for discussing the thread about Vauxhall/Opel's Field Service Remedies.
Or
Technical Safety Bulletins, as recorded on their Technical Info System and issued to their dealership technicians.

The reference thread is found here.

All bulletins now posted.

Just a few typos to sort where Opel docs have been poorly translated to English for "Vauxhall sales make"

There are a few duplications where a
field remedy / TSB appears in two sections.

I am sure that there was a factory recall on our 1994 C18NZ LSi hatchback for the hand-brake.

(Small block front callipers and rear drum brakes.)
-------------------------------------------
Returning to Field Remedies.

Affecting the C20NE.
There is no mention of the slow rpm "wobbly" idle.

Complaint:
Engine idles at approx. 650 rpm

Remedy:
Initial issues were sorted by dealership technicians increasing the base rpm using the Vetronix Mastertech Tech1 / 1a hand held programmer.

Alternative remedy is to fit a Yellow Octane Coding Plug.
Yellow coding plug increases the idle by 100 rpm.
Part No = 90241963 /
Opel Kat Code = 12 86 527
----------------------------------
Complaint:
Erratic Idle. (Hot Engine).
Unplugging Idle Control Valve electrical connector increases the rpm significantly.

Cause:
Gummed up / sticking Idle Control Valve in conjunction with an oiled up breather system.

Remedy:
Clean or Replace Idle Control Valve.

And clean the breather pipes and gauze filter in the camshaft casing cover.
