other than the engine, would i have to swap or could i just run it on the existing loom and Ecu?
its getting on now, 176k today so am thinking of a rebuilt SEH sometime shortly and if i can find one a F16CR/F18CR gearbox with alot lower miles on
id like an XE but everyone seems to have one, same with an LET

You could probably run it from your ecu but you wont get the best out of it
and lets and xes are common for a reason, they are cheap and good, no point in bucking the trend for the sake of being different and coming out with less power

The seh is a good engine but you will see better results with the correct ecu
the loom should be ok .

good choice with the SEH, great engines, though you will need to change the ECU and loom, it would prob run but I think it wouldnt be good. you will need a F16CR box to make the most of the SEH aswell.

The SEH runs Bosch Motronic ML4.1 electronic ignition, the NE runs Bosch Motronic 1.5.
That almost certainly means that you can't run the SEH on the NE's ECU and loom (does the SEH have a lambda for instance?); different electronic ignition usually means a different pin-out.
If you're bringing the engine over it should be no hardship to bring the ECU and loom as well.
