Timing Belt Kits

Post by RatCav »

I have seen a continental timing belt kit for £45 plus the dreaded. Are they any good for my C25XE Cavalier?

Everyone keeps saying Gates so I think I will stick with them.

gates made/makes the gm kits, ive had them side to side and identical in every way, plus if you look at early Haynes manuals they are stamped gm and gates.

I get mine from the autofactors up the road, autovaux have pretty good service from when ive had bits from them

You normally get the belt and the tensioners but not the waterpump

thanks gaz, super helpful as ever! same as the omega kit, water pump separate. i will need to get a timing kit, 90 on trade card so will call autovaux as they have been pretty good. the belt was done at 80k and were on 113 now. even though the book says 80k intervals this was retracted on the v6 due to number of engines blowing up so the recognised gm interval is actually 40k. anything over this and youre living on borrowed time...!
