Oil pressure warning light fault

Post by LETSTICK »

Driving home from work today

all was good , drove 5 miles , vcar was running spot on

then the dash oil pressure warning light starts flashing , pulled over and shut it down , checked oil level , still well above Min :o

got a tow home , started with changing the sender , checked the pressure relief , still freely able to move , checked the conection on the sender and the wiring

started it up for a second , light was still on

found my old mechanical oil pressure gauge , plumbed it in , started the car , and on idle hits 70 psi , pressure increases to 90psi with revs :D

went for a drive watching the gauge like a hawk and all was fine .

only trouble now , the light still flashes then goes out , then stays on

what would be the most likely cause to this ??? , even unplugged from the switch , it keeps doing it , :wall

its earthing out somewhere so its probably trapped/cut , check the multiplug in the engine bay (the twist one) for a start, with a circuit tester.

worn main bearing cause low oil pressure
