Small touchscreens tend to be either very expensive or very low res. The Galaxy tab 7" however features touchscreen, stripped OS, satnav, music, video, web, etc. Everything is already built in, doesn't get any easier?

Good call... what is the HD memory like?

Bumped into a guy with an ipad mounted on his dash the other night, far too big, takes over the centre of the car completely.
Tab has 16gb on board, with a micro sd slot that will take a 32gb card. Not sure but it might take a 64gb?

Looking for a half decent dock for my Samsung Galaxy S2 - toying with interfacing that into the car audio system, thats expandable to 64gig via an SD card :D

They do a couple of different docks for the tab, maybe worth looking if they have the same connector? The standard car dock is a great mount but requires a separate audio connection, the media dock is not car oriented but includes hdmi out and audio connection.

In the light of the savings I will be making when my mortgage switch is finalised I treated myself (and the family I suppose) to a replacement PC. e6700 with 4gb ram. Low spec by todays standards, but good enough to see us through another five years. So much quicker than the old xp3000. Chuffed!

I've just had to rebuild my PC following a motherboard failure. I'm housing the new components in the same Cooler Master Cosmos case that's pictured earlier in this thread, but the spec is now as follows:

Intel Core i7 5820K 3.3GHz Haswell-E
Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400MHz memory
Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTZ 750Ti 2GB GDDR5 graphics card
Noctua NH-D15 dual radiator quiet CPU cooler with twin NH-A15 fans
4 x Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue/Black internal hard drives
1 x Western Digital 500GB external hard drive
Corsair 850W HX850i platinum digital power supply unit
Asus DVD SATA Rw drive
M-Audio Delta 44 external 24-bit audio interface
Roland Cakewalk UM-3G USB MIDI interface
CoolerMaster Cosmos brushed aluminum case (soundproofed, 7 x quiet internal fans, dedicated air channel guide)
3 x Samsung 2433 24-inch LED monitors
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit edition
etc.

Now I'm really jealous, that spec would be really good for photo work.

Nice spec Dan. Very jealous of that I7.

I built my new computer in July last year:

Intel Haswell i5 4690k @ 4.5Ghz
EVGA GTX 760 ACX SC edition
8GB Corsair DDR3 2400mhz RAM
Asus Maximus VII Ranger Z97 Motherboard
Corsair H110 CPU cooler
SoundBlaster ZXR
240GB Kingston SSD
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Corsair AX860i PSU
Corsair Carbide 500r case
Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Mainly built for gaming, haven't actually used it that much. :p
Think my next upgrade will be the GPU.

Mainly use my Samsung Galaxy S2 or S4 mini for internet stuff.

But I have a very old Elonex laptop with 37 Gb hdd and about 512 Mb ram.
Processor speed is 1.6 Ghz.
It runs XP s/p3...
Just about the most stable platform for my car stuff.
(EPC4, TIS2000, Vauxcom 131223d, FORScan)
And all my Office stuff .....

Sometimes the old stuff is the best, it's stood the test of time though!

It has been completely formatted 3 times due to viruses, but yes - it keeps coming back for more.

I do have a Scaleo P tower unit but it never gets fired up.
It is only used for my giant 18Gb Volkswagen database.
(ElsaWin or something - like the VW version of TIS but for every VW car and van between 1959 and about 2009).

Used to belong to a car performance shop before I bought it for £50 last autumn.
Bought it to back up my files onto DVD and also to copy some old family videos and VHS tapes to DVD.

All my PC's up until this latest build have been built from old second hand components and been upgraded so many times I lose track.

These are my two old PCs

This photo is from around 2012 I think. Nothing much has changed since then and they still look the same, other than changing the mouse and keyboard on both and the speakers for the one on the right.

Specs for the one on the left:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 4GHz
Zotac GTX 960 2GB
Asus Rampage Formula x48 motherboard
8GB DDR2 1066MHz Corsair Dominator RAM
Asus Xonar D1 sound card
Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler
Corsair HX750W Power supply
Sony DVD drive
Samsung Blu-Ray drive
120GB Corsair Force GT SSD
3TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
Cooler Master Silencio 550 case with 3x Cooler Master Excalibur 120mm fans
Windows 7 Pro 64bit + Windows XP home

This was my main PC before the new one. Still pretty dam good for games and the one I still use the most. Still try to keep it up to date despite having the new one.

Internals:

Image

Specs for the one on the right:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 @ 4.2Ghz
EVGA GTX 460 1GB
Asus Striker II Formula Motherboard
4GB DDR2 1066MHz Corsair Dominator RAM
Sound Blaster X-FI Elite Pro sound card
Cooler Master Hyper 212evo CPU cooler
OCZ ZS series 650W Power suply
Lightscribe DVD drive
1TB Western Digital Black HDD
Novatech Xtyling case with 2 80mm and 1 120mm Noctua fans
Windows XP home

Mainly used as a backup PC but great for classic PC gaming, especially games which use EAX sound features which don't work on Windows 7.

Aha! I see that "the one on the left" makes good use of the same Noctua CPU cooler as my new machine (although I've added both fans to mine). Nice one!

In addition to my new super 'puter (spec outlined in my earlier post viewtopic.php?p=151420#p151420) I've also invested in a new laptop, and jolly pleased I am with it too!

Asus Pro Essential P751JA-T2017G in black
17.3" LED backlight / 1600 x 900 / HD+ / anti-glare
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit / Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit downgrade
Intel Core i3 (4th Gen) Dual Core 4000M / 2.4 GHz / 3 MB Cache
4GB DDR3L 1600MHz memory
500 GB HDD / 7200 rpm
DVD-Writer
Intel HD 4600 graphics processor
Bang & Olufsen ICE Power sound chip
Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11ac , Gigabit Ethernet
6-cell battery
Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) Security Chip
(WxDxH) 42 cm x 28.2 cm x 3.86 cm
Weight 3.1 kg
etc.

Some nice computer specs listed here. I used to be well into PC gaming always had the latest spec PCs. Mainly use my phone now or my OLD IBM ThinkPad.

ThinkPad T400

Core2Duo P8400 2.27 GHz
8GB of ram
Samsung 250GB EVO 850 SSD
Old backup 500GB Hitachi in the CD drive dock.

Taken alot of abuse over the years. Brilliant build quality. Dont really see me changing it anytime soon plays all my movies in HD and still has excellent battery life.

I couldn't physically fit the second fan in as the RAM is too tall unfortunately. Still performs well though, and quiet too.

Yeah, working in IT and repairing / doing custom builds has its perks. Most of the bits in my PC I obtained from one job + being paid an hourly rate for the build, complete installation and updating of his PC. Was a pretty good day that.
