Knocking

Post by ashs_cav »

When I drive slowly a slight nocking noise comes from the left front...had a look around and people think its the ARB bushes...but just checking if anythig else can cause it...

Could be a number of things but usually the bushes are the culprit.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

If it is worse from cold it could be a shock absorber. ARB is a common point though especially the links to the wishbones.

Have you had any new brakes recently?

I only ask because sometimes if the brake calliper isn't bolted on tightly enough it can knock.

Happened to my car; took me 6 months to find out what was causing the knocking.

Could also be the wheel bearing, I've had that before too.

If you can get it to knock by bouncing the car then you can have a hunt around whilst using a screwdriver to listen. Place the handle to your ear and the point on any potential area of source add it will amplify the sound helping you to pinpoint it.
