Steering Knocking noise.,
Evening everyone when I have the engine running and move the steering wheel to the offside ( right ) there's a knocking noise and feeling coming from the steering wheel, I thought before I start the process of elimantion could anyone enlighten me to what it could be? Many thanks and happy new year everyone

The most common weaknesses are the track rod ends or wishbone bushes.
Usually worn bushes or sloppy ball joints.

With engine off if you lightly "shimmy" the wheel left to right, within the confines of the free play do you hear a clonk clonk clonk in the engine bay. you can also get someone to do this and listen down by the wheel to see if you can hear anything loose?

Re: Steering Knocking noise.,
I had that on my old auto (C18NZ) which I didn't get on my two other Cavaliers at the time, it felt weird, usually did it when the car was stationary (if I shook the steering) or at slow speeds when turning right and feeding the steering wheel back, felt like something jumped a tooth almost, I was advised that it could be the steering rack.
